what kind of determination are we talking about here? Nylander has scored a lot of his goals in tight driving the net or taking abuse in crease area so far in the AHL. That's pretty determined.

He wants the puck back whenever his team loses it and hes a magician at sneaking up behind people to take it back....that is determination.

There was a good article written about him the national post (I dont have the link atm) and it really gives you a look into how he is as a professional. It is definitely a good read.

no.. if you remove the first few games he played where he was getting used to the AHL, he is like a 0.90 PPG player not a 0.75 player. It's not 'removing the games he didn't get a point', its removing his adjustment period.

Yea I think his numbers are excellent for an 18 year old transitioning from Europe to the AHL mid season. Leafs got a really nice prospect at number 8 IMO.

Nylander is a professional in every sense of the word and is committed to getting better. The fact that the coaches of the marlies (who have been known to make their opinions heard if they don't think a prospect is committed enough) considers his off-ice work ethic to be "amazing" just proves his drive and determination.

Sounds like you're just pushing stereotypes rather than judging Nylander as an individual. Reports are that he's been a very determined professional, eating right, putting in extra work at practice, at the gym, etc.

When I watch him play, I see a guy who's better defensively and fights for loose pucks a lot more than the stereotypes about him would lead you to believe.

It's more accurate to discount the earlier games in the season when he was getting acclimated to the AHL than it is to count the very last game he played in and take it as a sign he's leveling off. Funny enough, what HFboards tells us is that he has not gone more than 2 games without registering at least a point, so any hint of leveling off is misconception.

I would have been very happy with Nylander. I think the Canucks and Canes will regret their picks. I was so glad that they took Virtanen and Fleury - it meant that both Nylander and Ehlers were on the board for the Leafs and Jets. I think Nylander could end up being a top-3 player from that draft.

I happened to be at the draft in Philly with a contingent of people and when Virtanen and Fluery went I was a bit animated to say the least knowing both Nylander and Ehlers were still available. I was hoping Chevy would take either one. Watching both of them develop this season has only strengthened my belief that both organizations nailed it.

The first few games was obviously him adjusting to smaller ice. Don't ignore slumps but realize the first few games wasn't him at the top of his game due to that.

It's obvious that he's trending up and not "levelling off", that's all.
