A nice side effect of having Auston the GOAT Matthews is outside of this HFboards thread no one is really talking about Nylander. 1.25 PPG and the guy can just play without the whole hockey world judging him.

exactly what ive been saying. Everyone is watching Matthews every move but IMO I think Nylander could very well win the Calder.

I absolutely love Nylander and think he will possibly become Leafs best player out of the youth

I was really worried about Nylander after last season's NHL stint. He didn't have any hustle or drive to win battles. He was Kessel-like in avoiding contact. His play this season has really alleviated a lot of my worries. He is playing with a ton of confidence and poise out there. He really looks like a vet out there with his puck confidence and patience. He is actually hurrying into puck battles, and although isn't very physical, he scrums for them and wins his fair share.

Really love what I've seen from him in short sample this season. Gonna be a great player.

Yeah I have noticed that too. Nylander was a bit shy last year and not going to many board battles but now he's involved a fair amount more.

His skating reminds me of mcdavid a bit. Not nearly as fast but the stop and go is similar.

Nylander's edgework is very similar to Claude Giroux.

People like to talk about Marner and Matthews... Nylander just gets left out. He's easily my favourite.

He'll lead the leafs in scoring this year.

Nylander scores another on a rebound set up by an Auston Matthews drive wide; Nice give and go to get the initial rush started. These two have chemistry. Nearly scored another one right after (Matthews in partially alone got his backhand shot poke checked).

Him and Matthews are looking deadly. Nylander's production since about his 10th game in has been extremely impressive.

Yup, and it shouldn't be all that surprising considering Nylander's development curve going from all the way back to the second half of his draft year. He's always been extremely impressive playing vs men since then

Few vocal posters around here have knocked on his AHL production in his rookie year, but that was with him coming from Sweden in the middle of a season, and being juggled up and down the Marlies' lineup.

Nylander's shot is pretty ridiculous. Accurate and doesn't need a lot of time or to pull it back to get velocity on it.

By the media, he doesnt exist. ;)

He is the veteran of the three lol. Nylander and Matthews look great together. Fairly certain that one of these guys will be leading the team in scoring this year.

I can't believe he lasted till the 8th pick and that our management picked him. I was scared we would go off the board and miss out on a star.

Thankfully Shanahan listened to Bergman, and fired 90% of the rest of the staff but retained Thommie.

Nick Ritchie good old tranna boy, man did I jump for joy when they said Nylander and not Ritchie (would of take ehlers too)

Ritchie has 5 points in 38 career games
Nylander has 20 points in 27 career games

Yep I was on board with Ehlers as well, but wanted Nylander more just because his dad was a decent player and so he had that pedigree

Nylander has looked fantastic. Glad he got himself a couple goals.

Absolutely. especially given he has given Matthews several gorgeous feeds, nice to see the universe evening out with Auston returning in kind :naughty: The Kids (Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Zaitsev) have been undeniably carrying the Leafs/keeping them in games.
