Nick Ritchie good old tranna boy, man did I jump for joy when they said Nylander and not Ritchie (would of take ehlers too)

Ritchie has 5 points in 38 career games
Nylander has 20 points in 27 career games

Don Cherry will remind you about everything he's right about but I don't think he will ever bring up Ritchie again. Nylander born in Calgary. Good Canadian kid. :sarcasm:

Don Cherry is awesome for local kids, and I love his passion (and continued interest in going to GTHL games). Obviously, he is insanely biased which leads to extremely dumb comments, but he's trying to make kids proud to be Canadian.

On a side note, I am so glad we drafted Nylander. So far this season Willy and Pastrnak have been the most productive of the 2014 class. His game really has matured. Everyone knew how talented this kid was offensively, and he seems to of erased most of the questions around him.

Nylander is really built now as well. He can protect the puck almost as good as Matthews on the boards, makes the smart plays, plays north south, shoots the puck ridiculously fast and accurate as well.

Best thing about Matthews and Nylander is that they don't overpass the puck. They both shoot the puck when it needs to be shot and pass when there isn't a shot.

At the draft I wanted either Nylander, Ritchie or Ehlers. didnt really care which one it was. I was just glad vancouver took virtanen because I reeeally didnt want him at our 8th pick. Theres obviously lots of time before we see what ritchie will be.

I was expecting these guys to slow off but not at all.

I wonder how the world would react if both Nylander and Matthews ended up being PPGers during this season, huh? Well, I guess that's a bit of a tall order but they've been really good overall.

Nylander's shot is pretty ridiculous. Accurate and doesn't need a lot of time or to pull it back to get velocity on it.

This is what I've been most impressed by. He's had 19 shots on goal and only 6 that either missed or were blocked.

7 points in 5 games this season.

18 points in his last 17 NHL games.

20 points in his first 27 NHL games.

20 years old.

Nylander is so skilled, he is kind of like Eberle but I would guess with a higher playmaking ability. First time I have watched him for more than a few minutes and it's obvious he will make a name in the league.

Nylander is better at everything than Eberle. He's a complete offensive weapon.
Should be a 70 point first liner, him and Matthews will be one of the best offensive duos of the next decade.

Nylander appears to be stronger on his skates than Matthews. He spreads his legs and stays low, he rarely gets knocked off the puck whereas Matthews does more and falls down more as well. Something I have been very impressed with Willy thus far.

Is there really people who wouldnt thought that Lill Nyllet would put up points? He was the bigger talent of him and Pastrnak during thier Jr years, which were they played in the 2nd tier sr league in Sweden. That should give you a hint.

Matthews - Nylander is the best duo since Gilmour - Andrychuck

And we're adding another top ten prospect this season to this young core :yo:

I'd love to hear how he feels about Barkov these days.
I remember him trashing the kid and the Panthers when he went 2nd overall. He should have gone 1st after the season he had.

Watching him and Kane yesterday, I noticed that his play is very much like a less flashier version of Kane.

It would be pretty amazing if he can become a 70 point player with a style like Kane.

Nylander is probably physically stronger than Matthews as well, the guy is a workhorse off the ice. Give Matthews a few more years of training and he'll be a lot heavier on the puck with that huge frame of his.

They're really not even close in terms of playing style. Nylander is easily a much better and more dynamic skater than ebs is or ever was and has a better shot imo.

In regards to Nylander being stronger then Mattews, it looks like Nylander's body is catching up to all the gym work he's put in. He was shredded before but his body wasn't physically mature yet.

In Matthew's draft +2 or +3 year he's going to be pretty much impossible to move off the puck as well.

It's pretty sweet knowing we have Matthews, Nylander and Marner in the organisation and we have other players on the way in Korshkov, Bracco, Timashov, Kapanen just to name a few.

Now...about that defense.

The chemistry he and Matthews have shown me in just 5 games makes me think they could both catch fire and put up 70-75 points this year already
