Thinks Kulich is ready for a call up - Baker

Doesnt think Kulich is ready for a call up - Rivet

Ive never been more sure of anything in my life than which side of this is the right one.
Now Hamilton dismisses it because a lot of his points are on the powerplay. He has 10 ES points in 10 games. And 3 points on the PP.

Also, and this is hard to believe given the Sabres…PP goals count too.

signing up for the he’s no ready camp at this point…you have to look around at who is on your side and think maybe it’s time to tip toe over to the other side and hope no one notices.

Always enjoy the self quote lol. It's tough to argue that he's not ready. I think most GMs would be drooling to get him on the big club roster. Can he use some work in non-scoring aspects of his game? Sure. Most 19 year olds do. But he does have to perform when he gets opportunities and that's been my only concern. He definitely deserves opportunities but until he makes more of them, he'll keep getting bounced around.

Thompson
Cozens
Mitts

I don't think the Sabres are hoping for anyone to play center.
Agree in concept, but we don't know if they will be able to sign Mitts to a reasonable long-term contract before he becomes a UFA. If he takes arbitration, he will get a very good one-year deal and then be able to go to market. The Sabres have to prepare someone to take Mitts place 2 years from now in case it goes that way. Not saying Kulich is the guy, but someone.

At this point bringing him up would help the Sabres offense but having him round out is game in Rochester where he doesn't sacrifice defense for offense and vice-versa might be better in the long run

Ostlund fits that timeline perfectly.
Mitts looks to be playing like a guy you lock down for 5+ years.

I had hoped someone like Krebs could be a cheaper replacement for Mitts, but that is not happening.

Kulich is a very interesting prospect.

Where do you BUF fans see Kulich in your future lineup?
I suspect you see him as a winger that could help out at C when injuries happen to Tage and/or Cozens.

Is he going to be 1st/2nd line scorer?
Can he be useful on another lower line?

With what he's done so far (AHL only), where does he stand in the hierarchy in the next 5 years?
Before/after Skinner, Tuch, Peterka, Quinn, Benson, Savoie, Ostlund and your other relevant 2nd round picks?

So I guess what I'm asking is, is there realistically a spot for him?
If you have to trade forwards to shore up on D/G, who are you selling?

Skinner will be gone by then or be a 3rd liner.

As for the rest, someone will be traded for a Dman that’s within 1-2 years age difference, but I don’t even wanna speculate who that will be

It’s actually somehow even lazier than not watching the games. People see his shot and that he’s not here and say…well he must be another Olofsson or else why wouldn’t they call him up? The last part of that question is the issue. Not the first part. Incompetence on Adams’s end. Not Jiri’s.

But people like Hamilton saw him fail to stand out on the 9th offensive line with guys who are not NHLers in preseason so the book is written for them. He could score 100 goals this year while Baker pounds the table about his overall improvement and being ready and it won’t change anything to people like him.

Dont be people like him.

One of the biggest things is that he is playing center as a 19-year old in the AHL. There is a lot to learn. If they bring him up as a winger, it likely lessens his learning curve.
If he learns to be a top flight center in the all chances are it makes him a better winger in the NHL with the ability to fill in for c if need be

Paul Hamilton adds almost nothing to any conversation about the Sabres. I was listening to his questions the other night at Granato Press and wondering how he was a job, but he's freelance, and WGR probably pays him nothing. Baker's insights are like 1000% better. Hamilton is so done. He is less arrogant and insulting than Harrington, so it's sort of tolerable.

And even if it were just PP goals, the Sabres haven't exactly been lighting it up there.

Kulich is 16th in the entire AHL in primary 5-on-5 points with 8. Alex Steves leads the AHL with 13, Adam Gaudette has 11, then Danil Gushchin has 10. Then there are a bunch with 9 (including Rosen), then Kulich. If he has a good night, he might be 4th in the league and it's not like he isn't still 19.

PP production? Faaak.
