To not give Kulich NHL games next year would be down right criminal. Gifted a spot? No. But if he is a top 12 forward in camp then he shouldn't be sent back down just because he can be. He has earned NHL games.

Not really. He can play some games but it's a big jump and pushing back his UFA years will only help this team long-term. Zero urgency. Sabres problems are on D

Is Rochester winns calder Kulich should be in sabres next season ?
He should´ve been already this year for at least nine games, i don´t agree with keeping him in ahl or he is never going to make that jump. I also do not agree with some guys saying that Savoie should be up before Kulich, who is clearly better than Savoie right now. Thankfully Sabres management knows better and he is going to become regular right out of camp.

He is not clearly better than Savoie right now or at any point. He’s on a heater on offense. That’s only part of the game. He’s still prone to floating defensively and it costing the team. Savoie is a more complete player, with higher compete away from the puck…and, oh yeah…offensively gifted in more ways too.

Look…I wanted Kulich at 16. I fell in love with him in the process and he’s overdelivered on even my expectations.

But he’s not Savoie.

The thing with Kulich defensively remains - how do they see him plugging into an NHL roster? I still see a winger. However, the AHL coach is using him at center at times from shift to shift, and throwing that sort of shuffle into processing all of what he needs to know and do is both challenging and part of where he has a growth opportunity. His work as an AHL center is as one could expect of a teenager playing in the AHL in his own zone.

That said, Appert has talked about how playing in the middle also draws him into that center lane where his shot and ability to get to the net expand. I would like to see him get that part of his game in order more, it feels like Peterka and Quinn were further ahead at end of their AHL season last year (which shouldn't be a surprise as both were further ahead in age/experience) and we know how they adapted.

When you´ll see Savoie crumbling against men what will you say then, as he is playing against kids with comparable stats as season before? Yes he needs to round his game but thinking that Savoie is better and more ready than Kulich rn is just plain nonsense.

I absolutely agree with your post, however if Kulich outperforms Savoie in training camp and preseason games he should definitely get a chance over him, i would prefer if they somehow got rid of Mittelstadt and made line out of Rosen Savoie and Kulich, that would be great.

Having watched most of the Ice games and almost all of the Amerks games, Savoie is a better defensive player right now at center than Kulich is whether on wing or at center. That isn't a dig on Kulich. That's not pumping Savoie's tires. It's just what I see. I would love it if Kulich had the details in his own zone playing center that Savoie already has. I might not be able to walk if they had that out of both of them.

They're both close. I suspect one will make the team out of camp, then the other arrives after the U20's. Both should be terrorizing the Atlantic very soon.

Yeah, it's possible he has a great summer after a great playoff, pushing to win an open spot. That's the beauty of camp.

I don't think this has anything to do with where someone is from.

Youre going to be shocked when camp starts. In a way I’m happy for you.

I can’t believe I of all people am being accused of jingoism when I was the only person here pounding the table on Kulich before the draft. And one of the few who was pushing Rosen as more than what the consensus said long before two world juniors ago.

Seems unfair.

For the first time I may have seen a bigger Kulich fan than you!

I think a lot of us posters see them in the same value tier although different stylistically. It's not necessarily what I want or don't want but if they have to choose one, Kulich is eligible to play in the AHL next season whereas Savoie is not.

In terms of contracts and NHL guidelines, Savoie would be my choice if everything else (camp, level of play) were the same and you had to pick only one. I think Kulich will see some NHL games one way or another next year but this past season has been very productive for him in Rochester and he looks to have a nice long NHL career.

I honestly didn't think there was a bigger Kulich fan out there than you. Apparently I have been proven wrong.

Heated controversy. Well, Savoie is my favorite Sabres prospect and I was very happy when the Sabres drafted him, because that's exactly what I wanted. But I also really like Kulich, I think they will both be fine and maybe even play on the same line in Buffalo for many years and bring success to the team.
