A lot of people?

I'm agnostic on Lambert, and I told you from the start that he would shred the WHL.
Yeah as usual you were all over it. But it sure didn't seem like there were a ton of people pumping this kid's tires last year. I can't imagine him falling to 30 if NHL teams knew he was going to torch the WHL like this, but I could be wrong.

It's very encouraging to see how well he's playing in the WHL. Because it seems like he's been talked about for a while and played in men's leagues, it can be easy to forget that he's only in his D+1 season.

Continuing to grow and play better against men will be the next step, but he's just beginning and it's nice to see he's back to playing well against his peer group.

There are some kids that can play effectively against adults at 16 or 17 yo. I am betting that Brad’s father now understands that his wasn’t. Imagine his draft position if he played junior last season! Great gamble so far by Jets.

I think if he plays junior last year and doesn't show his limitations vs men, then he would have been the 1st OA pick.

He was great vs juniors as a 16 year old, I don't think this should be that surprising.

Yesterday I read an article on him in a Finnish sports magazine. He said that initially he was disappointed having to go back to junior league, but on the other hand he also said that he sees this as a welcome chance to be an impact player. And he sure has become that!

The article also covered his AHL stint that started well, but then derailed after his health problems. He thanked his AHL teammates for their support and was looking forward to next season and returning to pro hockey.

There was much more, like praise for Seattle fans and his current line mates (Guenther, Schaefer) etc..

If people can tune into TSN to watch this series I highly recommend it. This Seattle team is something like I've never really seen before... And Winnipeg is a good team too.

Lambert is so ridiculously dynamic it is insane... The speed he has when he gets the puck in the defensive zone and rushes up the ice is deadly to see... What a unbelievable prospect Winnipeg Jets have with him

I think he would've been back to a top 10 pick if he played in Seattle last year

Ya I often wonder how high he would have been drafted if he was in Seattle last year.. I haven't seen alot of the other players play that were drafted higher than him so I can't really comment, BUT I don't see how ALL those guys drafted before him are actually better. I would assume he would 100% be a top 10 draft pick(maybe higher).... IMO Lambert was one of the best and most dynamic players in the WHL this season from when he joined the TBirds until now.

Plus Lambert is exciting as hell to watch... There aren't too many guys that I've seen this season in the WHL where you instantly notice every time they step on the ice and makes you sit on the edge of your seat... Like for instance his linemate Dylan Guenther is obviously a good player but I feel Lambert is more noticeable every shift and way more exciting to watch.

Elite prospects had a nice write up on him last month emphasizing how dominant his all around game has been in Seattle.

Stock Rising

Brad Lambert, C, Seattle Thunderbirds (Winnipeg Jets)

It’s tough to look at Brad Lambert’s stat line – 17 goals, 21 assists in just 26 games – and talk about anything other than scoring. But that’s exactly what I’m going to do. The most interesting development in his time in the WHL has been Lambert’s off-puck game.

See, Lambert’s not messing around without the puck. The reaching and passive defence are mostly gone, replaced by non-stop energy, scanning, and proactive movement. He swings down low, sprints to close out space, and dusts opponents with his speed.

Alongside the defence has come Lambert’s more nuanced approach to offence. Away from the puck, he works into space at the right moments. With it, he’s predominantly preferred quick passing plays and give-and-goes over the flashy rushes that dominated his tape in the years leading up to his draft.

In short, he looks like a more refined, translatable player. If he doesn’t hit as a dynamic top-six scorer, he still looks like a probable middle-six contributor.
I have a hard time imagining a guy with his skillset and motor doesn't at least become a middle 6 forechecking specialist. But I think his vision and pace will elevate him much beyond that.

He and Kulich are looking like early steals from 1st round of 2022.

Between kulich and him will be extremely interesting to see who ends up as the best one out the 5 euro right wingers from that draft seems like all of them are trending pretty well considering none of them ended up top10

I wonder if Lambert ends up as a C, but yeah I think after Cooley they are the top 2 forwards from 2022 at this point.

Lambert what a steal for the jets. Kulich has 6 goals and 3 assists in 6 AHL playoff games. He just turned 19. Interesting Kulich was 28th and Lambert was 30th pick in the draft.

Feels good having given up the pick that was used to get this kid for a few weeks of Andrew Copp.

That said, had the Rangers kept the pick, the probably would have taken some unknown goalie or Lambert would be playing horribly anyway.
