I think it’s hard for a lot of Jets fans to believe that when during the last summer in Lambert’s thread on our board a lot of us were being positive and hoping for the best (like pretty much everyone on HF does when their team drafts someone new) and we were constantly met by a select few Finnish posters who would vociferously and repeatedly argue how much Lambert sucks.

I mean, saying “Hopefully Lambert can develop into a top sixer for us” was met with “No way, José, he has very bad, like awful, like stinky poo poo, hockey IQ. He’s so dumb he won’t make it!”

Basically every post was followed by a Finnish poster saying “nah, he sucks” but then the same Finnish posters would claim “yeah I think he’s worthless but still rooting for him!”

It got tiresome and it felt disingenuous when they’d say they were rooting for him after spending a dozen pages telling us how much he sucks.

I should clarify, I’m not talking about you or even anyone posting recently in this thread, I’m just hoping to share some perspective about why some Jets fans are perhaps a bit more guarded and defensive when discussing Lambert here.
The antics this summer make me hope he never represents finland internationally if he hits his ceiling lol

Yeah, I actually agree with you. Having a negative or pessimistic opinion is fine in my opinion, but writing an essay almost every day with the same content but slightly different words every day gets a bit tiresome.

Still think that Lambert has the best mechanics in the entire draft, which means skatings, hands and so on. Of course, he's currently not on the same level as someone like Cooley, but Lambert might have the potential to become better at execution at least, since Lambert has much cleaner skating and stickhandling mechanics than Cooley.

As for the hockey IQ, it might be a fair view. But it could also be that Lambert needed to play "survival hockey" in Liiga and wasn't ready for that. He really should have been in CHL some time ago, unfortunately. But if he at least gets to play in CHL for this and the following season, perhaps he's going to be able to find his game again and can then work on translating it to a pro league like AHL, with a more complete base.

He had a few nice assists last night, you can see them here WHL Network

Also just absolutely blew past Dragicevic at around the 1:55 mark of the highlight package.
For those not wanting to watch the video, Lambert beats him to the top of the circles from here:

He's always been fast, but my last couple of viewings he's just been absolutely flying out there. He closed a 10 foot gap in only 50 feet lol.

Confidence is a hell of a drug.

I wonder if he needed to go to a p[lace where he could have success, and now can relax a bit and make the jump to the AHL after another year w/ Seattle.

Honestly he probably won't need another year in Seattle. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have a very long playoff run (they are very easily the favorites to represent the WHL at the Memorial Cup). So he's probably going to get another 25-30 WHL games before next year. That might be enough.

He's been at least as good as Guenther (I'd say better), who was having success in the NHL. Lambert could probably step into the AHL right now and have success - he had 3 points in his first 4 games before his AHL season was interrupted by injury and then COVID, which I think was honestly still impacting him through the WJC.

The antics of a few vocal hf posters make you hope that? Ok then..

I think a big part of that "hate" was about his camp (dad) feeling Brad was entitled to play higher than he should and thus he was jumping from team to team. I think this might have also hurted his development. Atleast when he left HIFK it was because his camp wanted a guaranteed Liiga spot.

I'm assuming since the move to NA his dad's been less involved which would really be best for Brad.

Also, can't speak for anyone else, but i'm happy he seems to be turning it around and hope he becomes a valuable piece for our NT.
Actually seems odd some Finns would not want a useful player for the NT even if they dislike his career decisions.
