It is going to be interesting too see what happens to Hall and Seguin when the roles are reversed.

Hall going to a team that doesn't have as much talent as Boston and Seguin playing with better players.

Don't get me wrong I think both players will be very good NHLers but it is interesting to see how each player, plays in a different situation.

In Edmontons defence they do have a GREAT young core in MSP, Eberle and Hall, it's not like they don't have a great future.

But as far as Hall is concerned his entire junior career was basically adversity-free. He always had either one of the best or the best team in the CHL around him.

McGuire is absolutely right and it's obvious that some of you never watched Seguin in the OHL.

-Never played the PK

-Never played a checking role against other teams top lines

-Was benched for floating and not coming back into his own zone

-Got 2/3rds of his points at home when his coach matched him up against the other teams weaker players

-Was completely shutdown by the stronger defenders in the OHL

-Played the last 6mins of the final game to tie Hall in points(Plymouth pulled their goalie so Seguin could tie Hall)

Seguin COULD play in the NHL next season but IMO he needs to seriously develop his two way game. He needs time on the PK and playing against the other teams top lines. He doesn't need another year of point stacking.

Good insight Belfour.

But if his coach isn't developing his two-way game and just racks the points with him, is Plymouth the best place for him to become a better two-way player?

I competely agree with you in this matter, also stated around the boards that Seguin will start off as the 3rd line center if Savard leaves and will not have the pressure of putting up numbers for the team to succeed.

I think the Oil will be a great team in 2-4 years as their rebuild is going to plan and they are doing it right.

Normally Mike Velluci is a very good coach at developing players and making sure they have a strong two way game. However it seems as though this year it was different and Plymouth was hell bent on making sure Seguin was the focus of attention. Plymouth usually plays a very structured game, it just seems a lot of the rules were broke to get Seguin as many points as possible. I would hope if Seguin was sent back his coach would work on the defensive aspects of his game.

While Seguin was trying to rack up as many points as he could, Hall was working on other apects of his game. This year Hall became a very good PK'er and developed a very strong two way game. He also worked on finding his teammates more and took less shots as he did before.

I don't think Seguin is as ready as Duchene was. Duchene was an elite PK'er and often played against other teams top lines. His two-way game was much more developed.

I'm surprised McGuire could comment on Seguin considering his mouth was full of Taylor Hall's balls.

Honestly, I'm already sick and tired of McGuire's love affair with Hall. I will not watch a TSN game that features the Oilers this year. Hall joins Pronger and Richards among others that Pierre has a love affair with.

You forgot his biggest man crush... Rick Nash !

Seguin more so then Hall needs further junior seasoning imo. If he doesn't have the complete game (ie PK, 3rd line role), he can't play on the Bruins. Furthermore, looking at the Bruins cap hit for next season, they might be better off putting a slightly cheaper plug onto the fourth line then leaving Seguin on it.

The kid must be a bust.

Really.

He is probably a player in Minn or Atl. Is he in Boston or Vancouver or another deep team? Maybe not.

Who cares, how many amazing players took 1 to 5 years to make it? Parise, Toews, Bogosian, AND MORE!

Lay off, Seguin will be a PPG player for his whole long career.

Irony?

McGuire is obsessed with not rushing players. Better safe than sorry is a good idea but sometimes he's over the top. Go on youtube and watch video of Kane being drafted. He wasn't 100% sure he should have been in the NHL right after being drafted and then he had 70+ points.

Seguin is NHL ready. I've seen him tons. He has nothing else to prove.

I hope he goes back to junior though since Canada can use his help.

Um, you do realize he's joining the Bruins, one of the best defensive teams, no?

If anyone is going to help him develop a two-way game, I'd rather it be in the hands of Julien and his staff than in Plymouth, no offense.

Well, I'd rather the kid got 25 minutes a night playing OHL and working on his complete game then playing 5-7 minutes a night in the NHL as a 4th liner. Essentially, I don't want him to have the Stamkos treatment (Stamkos turned out ok but Tampa mismanaged him pretty badly there for awhile)

So will Seguin play centre or wing?

If he plays top 6 wing he will be o.k.. I think he may have trouble playing centre when he's basically played against OHL 2nd/3rd line centres up til now. He'll get eaten alive trying to cover Crosby/Malkin/Backstrom etc.

Maybe the funniest thing I have ever read on these boards!

Seguin is probably ready, but with Boston's depth at center, the last thing they need to do is rush him. Unlike Hall, he still has more to prove at the junior level.

I would argue Crosby was a top-15 player in the world as a young 17 year old.

How many Crosbys are out there? Sorry I didn't mean no one, I ment most aren't, I worded that wrong. The Crosbys and Ovechkins of the world. I doubt either Hall or Seguin are but it's not insulting to either player. At 18 you're still getting bigger and have alot to learn. They still both have good futures.
