I don't think Burke is kicking himself. He has a young proven 30 goal scorer in Kessel. He just has to add some veteran players to play with him through trades and Toronto will be just fine. A drafted player is still a prospect until they prove themselves in the NHL. Despite being a gifted goal scorer, I am not sure that Sequin is ready for the physical play of the NHL. He may still need another year in the OHL just like Kadri. Depends how much weight he can put on this summer. Hall is ready to go to the NHL mostly because he has accomplished a lot at the OHL level. He has nothing else to prove there. I might be jumping the gun but, I don't think being a 3 time Memorial Cup Winner is on Taylor's to do list.

I think the Stastny comparison is good. Good scorer/playmaker but also plays a good two-way game

Similar to a LeCavalier or Malkin, although I don't predict a 100 point season from Seguin.

I agree. I am one of the few on here who think that Seguin's reputation of being a great two way center is vastly overstated. People often cite his stick lifting ability of being a great two way centre. However his unwillingness to go into the dirty areas and floating has me worried about his ability to translate into a franchise NHL center. People often shrug off his lack of PK experience as nothing to worry about. His coach IMO should be more worried about preparing him for the next level instead of excessively padding his stats.

Oh God yes.

Yzerman comparisons are thrown around way too easily/often lately.

lately? he's been a top comparison for 15 years. tim connolly was compared to yzerman. to be honest i think it was the most accurate one, connolly plays the game offensively almost exactly as yzerman did in his first 10 years. very similar skating and stick handling mixed with the playmaking. of course connolly isnt close to his legacy, but the comparison in style is a good one.

when compare them to yzerman, they are saying the guy is a bit undersized but quick with the ability to create on their own with stickhandling and vision - and the strong possibility of being a no1 center. it implies some nice dangles and the ability to snipe as well. lafontaine would be used equally as a comparison for similar players.

of course they arent likely to reach the legacy of yzerman, its a style comparison. most people around here arent old enough to remember who yzerman actually was in his 20's.

i hate the leafs . thanks for blowing this year :(

Are you a Sabres fan? Because they would probably be the most responsible for the Leafs position this year :). 7 wins against the Leafs. Anyways I see Seguin being similar to Stastny. Granted I haven't seen much of him play. I am happy with Kessel though. Hope the Bruins enjoy the pick(s)

I'll admit I haven't seen him play a whole lot (maybe 8 games total) but each time I see him I walk away thinking Brad Richards. I think his two way game gets overrated quite a bit and he's not all that tenacious or gritty from what I've seen either. I think he ends up being a Brad Richards clone and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Ya, I don't know where the Vinny L comparisons are coming from. His physique and unwillingness to get his body involved remind of Kyle Turris. Even his shot and playmaking skills are similar IMO. I don't see how he's considered NHL ready, or if he is...

I hope the Oilers take Hall, but it's entirely possible Seguin has everything it takes to be a star.

If he could be like a Brad Richards that looks to shoot a little more, then I'd be perfectly content with him on the Bruins.

What I cam here to say. From the times I have seen him, he has been very Stastny like in his play. I predict him to be better then Stastny offensively, but very similar players.

This he'll be like Stastny, without the injury problems. Simluar numbers as well.

I know he's no Yzerman, Toews or Sakic...

Oilers head scout compared his game to Trevor Linden.

He said Hall was similar to Jarome Iginla.

I can see the Statsny comparison.
