THN might have had the highest ranking for Frederic (#46 overall) and had a quote from his coach comparing him to David Backes. It goes without saying that coaches can be known to talk up their players, but that would be fine value from a late 1st if Frederic became something close to that.

I happened to really like the Senyshyn pick last year - reaching isn't a bad thing if there's obvious potential reward there. Frederic has some tools, we'll see how this looks in a couple years.

What teams have you contacted that were wanting to trade picks with and give us assets. Please provide your insider information and perhaps HF can even give you your own verified tag

Well this is cute. The blind defending of a baffling pick, why am I not surprised? You really, honestly, believe that not one team would give you something to move up? I thought this would be fresh in your memory given we just witnessed multiple teams moving around, as we will tomorrow and in every other draft. But I appreciate your sarcastic tone and ignorant post.

Kinda confirms that the guys available in the second round are really not viewed so well by GMs and I can understand why. Clague, Abramov, Asplund, Girard, Laberge, Benson, etc. are not necessarily sexy picks either.

they're quality prospects, add Morrison and Hajek to that list. lets be real, scouts make mistakes too, that's how Yakupov went #1 OA and guys like Weber, Subban etc. went in the 2nd round.

Go over the history of the 29th pick and you'll see a lot of misses.

I don't mind the Bruins going against the grain here and picking someone who has a high floor but low ceiling considering that it wasn't a very deep draft and the aforementioned lack of quality NHL'ers produced at this spot in the draft. To get a third line guy at this spot would actually be pretty good.

This is just terrible logic...I see versions of this trotted out all the time. Players taken at a certain spot in the 1st in years past means jack **** for a unique pick in a unique draft. If every player taken at 28 became a star, and every player at 30, but every pick at 29 busts, just maybe it isn't some cosmic law revolving around that pick number. Maybe it's just poor drafting. Nothing is preventing a team from drafting better at a certain pick number. Who was taken at #29 in years past means zilch, bupkis, zero for this or future drafts. :shakehead

Some Bruins fans are such enablers

This pick screams Mitch moroz

I can't say i ever thought Frederic would go this high, probably doesn't soothe Bruins fans.

Things i like are the heavy game he plays, pretty good on the PK, has a defensive conscience. But there are things that concerned me whenever i watched him. I would like to see him move his feet more, in terms of pressuring the puck carrier on a more consistent basis, he can be somewhat stationary at times. I think he needs to work on his puck skills, there were a fair amount of instances where he bobbled the puck under no pressure. I have serious questions about his offensive game; there is not a lot of creativity, not great vision or passing ability either, a lot of chip and chase plays.

You're more likely to get a 3rd line guy by picking a high upside player that "misses his ceiling" than a guy who (at best if everything goes right) projects as a 3rd line player.

It would have been less comical for Keith Gretzky to at least just lie and say he thinks Frederic has some untapped, top-six power-forward upside. At least then its defensible.

This looks dumb because it's Sweeney. Keith Gretzky made it look even dumber.

Fact is, this is a really weak draft. If the Bruins can get a 3rd line C who can kill penalties at 29, it's probably fine. After 20 this draft plummeted off a cliff.

As you can tell by my name, I'm done with the organization. Complete morons. Been a fan ever since Pete Peters but I'm done. The picks, the trades, the personalities...can't stand it any more. And what's worse is the number of bruins fans defending all of these moves. Nobody here can tell me they would rather have Debrusk and Senyshyn over Connor, Barzal, Konecny, White, Chabot...i could go on...but there are Bruins posters who defend the picks to a point they are just embarassing. If they offer sheet Trouba for 4 1sts Winnipeg should take the picks, not because Trouba isn't good but because that organization is destined for so, e ****** years and those picks will be good. Unlike Boston, Winnipeg can draft.

DraftBuzz #34.

Gretzky did a poor job of describing Frederic - IMO he has upside to be a hybrid #2C-#3C. He was not surrounded well, and it seems every major scouting outlet missed the small subtle skill plays he showed. Added bonus he tested really well with NHL grade physical markers.

Wasn't on board with Zboril last year that high, and didn't like DeBrusk over Barzal/Connor, but take a deeper look at the last three drafts. BOS fans have a deep, diverse pool to be excited about.

This year was a very strong draft for the team all the way down. Proper values on all picks, except for Steen who was a value grab and top 100 talent IMO. Every one of those kids could play on my team any day of the week.

Interesting note: the last prospect we were high on with this much of a spread publicly in rank, yet close to NHL Draft selection...2015's Sebastian Aho.

"The first time someone calls you a horse you punch him on the nose, the second time someone calls you a horse you call him a jerk but the third time someone calls you a horse, well then perhaps it's time to go shopping for a saddle"

I have no doubt he will make his pick look better throughout the season, but I don't for a second believe every other outlet/service missed on these facets of his game. I mean, even the guy who drafted him seems to see it differently.
