He does have a great wrist shot, but let's see him get at least five full seasons under his belt with that kind of shooting percentage before we start talking about him in a historical context.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up the top shooting percentage leaders of all time and as you can see from this list, they require a minimum of 200 career goals.
They really should add one more requirement - that you scored 200 goals against goalies who could use the butterfly.

Yeah, adjusting for eras is a tough one. Every goalie post-Patrick Roy used the butterfly, but before him, they used pads that only exceeded the width of their legs by a couple inches and they didn't have the Michelin man padding on the upper body ...

... but then the sticks were all waterlogged wood ...

It's a tough call.

Seems like the type of guy who is traded and becomes a nice 60 point 2C in the form of Vinny Trocheck and goes from overrated to underrated.
I think he can do better than that. It all depends on how bad he wants it - he needs to push himself which has never been his strong suit.

He's in the midst of a heater atm and he's 20. He could very well break out for the Kraken this year. Don't see why he should even be considered for trades currently

He’s got the 6th? Now most production from the draft class and was drafted at 4th. I don’t know where this buy low stock is coming from from.
Posts across multiple threads where Wright is a "throw-in" in trades and folks have put him in the same category of first round players from the same draft who have already been traded out for a "change in scenery".

Though I do think you missed my point. My point was more general, not specific to Wright or the Kraken and also that fans of teams do this all the time. They will target young players of other teams who are struggling, undervalue them and be willing to give up little to nothing for them.

I have not even looked at where Wright ranks in productivity for his draft year. I genuinely don't care. All I care about is how he is doing for us. Give me another few years and maybe I will take a look and see where he stands among his peers.

The problem is that he’s undervalued because of his pre draft pedigree and people generally not watching him play being in a small market. I take what others say with a grain of salt.

He’s currently 5th in points from his draft class and 3rd in Goals from his draft class. Surpassed only be players who were drafted higher than him in terms of goals.

I’d say he’s right where he needs to be skill wise and point wise.

Am I just totally misunderstanding you here? Wright has 5th most points from the draft class, behind Hutson who's played around 11 fewer games.

EDIT: 13 fewer

12 pts in the last 11 games.

The people crapping on him, I'm talking about the people from one month ago, need to learn something here.

His underlying play was always fine. Did they bother looking at that? No. They're just checking points and crapping on a young player who needed an extra month to get going.

It doesn't seem to me like the kind of guy that Seattle would trade.

He's scoring and developing well.

Seattle is doing a stealth rebuild. They're building around him. And Beniers and Catton. They'll trade everyone else but not those guys.

Pretty nice assist, seems to quietly be doing well on a bad Kraken team. Is it ridiculous to say he may develop into a better player than Beniers? He seems to handle contact better.

He definitely handles contact better. They are pretty different kinds of centers though. I definitely think Wright has a higher ceiling than Beniers does, simply because he is better offensively. He has an elite shot, is already ahead of Beniers as far as board battles and net front presence goes. Defensively, Beniers is better and is a faster skater but Wright is not too far behind in that department either.

I think Wright playing as he has will enable Beniers to focus more on the defensive/transition side of the game which is what he excels at.

Would like to see Beniers put on some more weight though I think Wright has ~10lb on him.
