Mike Richards lite player.

So excited for his future [hopefully] here in Philly.

-Has improved offensively since his draft year
-Complete player...plays all 200 ft.
-Physical
-Leadership qualities (captain for Oshawa, captain for OHL team in Super Series, possible candidate for captain of Canada's WJC team)

They better hang on to this kid. Him and Couturier. Those two will definitely help overcome the lack of a number 1 dman.

Trade the Schenns for Franson and Gardiner. Next year Timonen and Meszaros walk......

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Lecavalier - Laughton - Simmonds
Read - Couturier - Downie
Rinaldo - Hall - Rosehill

Coburn - Franson
Gardiner - Grossmann
Gustafsson - Streit

Laughton should step into the 2nd line center role next year. He would be a defensive upgrade on Lecavalier. The 2nd line currently is getting easy offensive minutes. Once he gets adjusted to the speed of the NHL, those minutes can go exclusively to Giroux.

LOL...like the Flyers would want Gardiner and Franson for the Schenns...I think the Flyers can do a bit better then that!

Hell yes they can do better. The Schenns are not going anywhere. They both are a big part of the young core here. The only way they are moved is if someone makes Homer a offer he cannot refuse, and for Gardiner and Franson you must be joking. The Flyers can do way better elsewhere. Sorry leafs fans keep em.

I'm assuming you made that, so awesome job. If not, thanks for posting.

That video really highlights the package that Laughton brings. High hockey IQ, adept at playmaking and shooting, shorthanded goals, etc.

Just a solid all around player who should have a long career ahead of him.

He really looks like the guy in my avatar the way he plays.

Quite the player...his path is great to watch...eerily similar to his former teammate Boone Jenner. Unless the flyers move someone I could see him playing the wing, further proving the similar path to Boone.

Both should play center in the future, as they both dictate the flow of the game.

He's almost defintely going to end up as the third line center. Lecavelier and Schenn are both most likely going to be permanently switched to wing sooner or later so that leaves them with Giroux, Couturier, Laughton, and a F/A 4th liner down the center for the foreseeable future.

Saw him play tonight versus the 67's. Was pretty good. Oshawa played well overall. Laughton kinda went crazy near the end and head locked an Ottawa player behind the net when Oshawa was ahead and the puck was in the offensive end. Not sure why still, I was right there. He got a double minors for roughing, and put Ottawa on the PP. But it didn't matter near the end of the game up 5-2.

Didn't know who he and Dal Colle were, looked them up after the game. For a draft eligible player Dal Colle is pretty dominant, loves to have the puck, once just looped the entire offensive end with it.... Then did it half way again!

Ottawa played very well and it was an even game save the higher talent level and execution of the Oshawa scorers I think. And better goaltending.

Laughton was second in the voting for the OHL's most outstanding player.

http://www.bayshorebroadcasting.ca/news_item.php?NewsID=65927

The OHL's top scorer in the regular season has won the Red Tilson Trophy as the league's Most Outstanding Player of the Year.

Connor Brown of the Erie Otters won the award as voted on by the writers and broadcasters that cover the Ontario Hockey League.

In over 80 ballots collected, Brown received 321 points in the voting process receiving first place votes on over 73 per cent of all ballots.

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Scott Laughton of the Oshawa Generals finished second in the voting with 120 points, followed by NHL Draft prospect Sam Bennett of the Kingston Frontenacs with 68 voting points.

Couturier plays 20 mins a game give or take a little. 4C's don't. Laughton is projected to be a high end 3C - low end 2C.

No he's not. He was projected as a mid-second round pick in 2012, when the Flyers reached for him at #20 in the first round (Olli Maatta was still available). He was projected then, as he is now, as a 3rd-4th center.

Laughton is two-way center whose primary skills are on the defensive side of the ledger. He is a hard-worker with a consistent approach to the game and plenty of smarts. Laughton is not a highly skilled player and it remains to be seen how he'll develop in this area, but he should be an effective third-line player with some potential for second-line duty.

Career Projection – Second line (#2) center – Taking everything into consideration, Laughton projects to be a solid line two center that can play in any situation. While his skill set is above average, I don’t think he should be relied upon to produce big numbers in a primary scoring role.

My first initial reaction to watching this guy play was that he was only going to be a 3rd line player albeit a very good one, maybe even an elite one. But then he started showing me another part of his game that was part of his bag of tricks and that was: very good on-ice vision. So then he’s not really just a guy with 3rd line upside, he’s actually a guy who has a shot at becoming a solid two-way top-6 forward. If not, then he can adapt his game as needed. This guy is also a seriously skilled penalty killer. All-in-all, he’s got really good value, this is a very safe pick, no doubt he’ll be an NHLer.
