Byfield is pretty weak on faceoffs, my dude. 51.9% for a top center is mediocre. He was 44th in the OHL in faceoff percentage.

Dach is a way more mature person, listen to his spitting chicklets interview he sounds like a 10 year vet. I think Byfield goes back and its definitely for the best, lost alot of development time this year and has a late birthday to begin with. Not to mention big players take longer.

I really wonder why Kings fans are so adament that they want Byfield over Stutzle, no one knows who will be the better player. How defensive they get when its suggested they are taking Stutzle is confusing for me.

As a sens fan I am glad they are picking third, less pressure on the player they get or the organization for getting it wrong. I honestly do not care which one it is, just happy they are getting one of them.

I'm very interested to see what happens with Byfield. Exciting mix of skill and size. Hopefully whichever team drafts him has a bit of patience despite his size.

I’m pretty sure at 6’5” and 220 Byfield will develop into a dominant centre in all facets of the game, including face-offs. And 52% isn’t bad at all.
 
Faceoff percentage is just about the dumbest stat to judge a centre by. I think there will come a time where we stop judging players as centres based on their ability to take faceoffs, and faceoffs will eventually just be taken by players who are good at taking faceoffs, regardless of position. So like, if a guy has elite positional awareness, is a great skater, covers the entire ice surface at a well above-average level, and is an elite playmaker, you're just gonna be like "harrr dee harrr harrr hE CaNt TaKe fAcEoFfS sO hE cAnT pLaY cEnTrE eNd Of StOrY!!!!!111!1!!1!!"

Like seriously, we all know faceoffs in general are important, but let's quit pretending that you must be confined to the position you lineup in during the faceoff :rolleyes:

In a few years after Byfield has matured he will be hard to Stop! Byfield in going to be an Elite Centre mark my words and he will dominate at the dot too! LA fans will be tickled pink when this monster hits the ice and develops into the next Kopi-Star!

Byfield is going to push to play in LA in 2021 or whenever the season starts next. He's going full bore to be an NHLer with ex-NHLer,Stanley Cup winner and former 53 goal scorer Gary Roberts the Fitness guru trying to make it happen for young(18 yr old) Quinton Byfield! A Beast in the making!

Sometimes MacKenzie runs his mouth without taking a breathe and thinking...its going to be Byfield I Flipping know 100%. It might have been Strudel at 4 but not the coveted 2 after Lafreniere...Its going to be QByfield55 at numero dos!Take it to the bank

Byfield is not going to be a bust! He's got the work ethic of a 5-10 NHL veteran now! Byfield Star in the making in the NHL coming soon with the LA Kings!!!

So if they do are you going to stop cheering for the Kings? Or are you going to eat your words when Stutzle becomes an elite centerman? The kid has a strong work ethic. I don't know why you hate him so much. Got a thing against Germans with talent? They both are going to be great NHLer's so be ready for either one of them and watch some game footage of Stutzle.

Two of the NHLs most prominent big star centres in recent years, Getzlaf and Malkin, have sucked at faceoffs for most/all of their careers. If anything, the best faceoff guys are often pretty average sized - Sid, Bergeron, Giroux, Horvat, Malhotra, etc.

Not that it’s a huge deal - faceoff ability is more a nice to have than a deal breaker.

Byfield is going to be an Elite Centre...Strudel will play the Wing...you can put that in your pipe and smoke it! Strudel will not be an Elite player but Quinton Byfield will be you can take that to the Bank!!!
