Man some people are so naive here. Yea sureeeee, the LA just started looking at who they’d take second this week.

After knowing they’d have a top 5 pick all year, after being able to do nothing other than scout for the draft during a global pandemic, after thinking the draft might be held in June and given a 1 month notice. Yes, the LA kings just started looking at who they’d draft with the second pick this week. Sure they may be fine tuning things and crossings their T’s and dotting their I’s but at this point they pretty much know dam well who they want at 2 in the draft.

Same with the McKenzie thing. Buddy literally puts together consensus lists for the draft rankings and some people think his opinion is as if I were saying I (some nobody) think LA has more interest in Stutzle than Byfield.

Because Bob McKenzie's draft rankings always prove to be right.

If his rankings are etched in stone, then what is Brady Tkachuk doing in a Senators uniform?

His list also had the guy your favorite team selected at 19th overall last year as the 30th ranked player on his list. And the player he had 5th in his rankings went 3rd.

These lists are based on... OPINIONS. It seems like some fickle Sens fans can't process that information through their thick skulls.

It's not about that. Questioning is fair.

But you can't accept Bob MacKenzie's thrice-admitted opinion as fact and then be extra skeptical of Lisa Dillman's Rob-Blake-directly-quoted fact just because it's convenient.

Heaping spoonfuls of confirmation bias going around in this thread.

I didn’t know some people don’t know the difference between his rankings and a mock draft. He never states that the 5th ranked player will go to the team picking 5 or that they 10th ranked player will go to a team picking 10. I don’t really know what you’re getting at here tbh.

Him talking about one specific team is different than his consensus rankings.

You guys mention his rankings are based on what other team scouts tell him, then you guys change the narrative of Bob expressing his opinion to be a matter of fact when he’s voicing what he thinks could happen.

What I’m getting at is that Sens fans don’t know the difference between a rumor and an opinion.

Lisa Dillman over Bob Mackenzie ok got it.

I take most of these "rumours" with a grain of salt, but c'mon now lol.

Yeah well her source was Rob Blake, you know... the GM of the team?

If you actually followed the team and what Mark Yannetti (the head scout of LA) and Rob Blake (again.... the GM of the team) have actually stated, you would know that LA was doing work on their other 10 picks in the draft and that they wanted to finish those before looking at 2nd overall. Blake told Dillman that they began the process for 2nd overall

You guys are so set over this, that you want to take Bob's opinion (He stated very clearly that it was just an opinion) over what the GM and Head scout have stated. Okay.

I like the post so much that it earned you a theme song
(sing it to the old Batman into)
Lukeman! Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah Lukeman!

A lot of hurt ego's here it seems. Both countries have their own commentator's that they hold as a source of news. Each country has their own local team commentator's that they hold as a source of news. It's all opinions and skepticism it's not factual. Until a team states something then everything else is just noise for bait clicks. Just ignore those dumb fans who are being idiots and saying nonsense.

Get back to talking about Byfield the PLAYER. His thread has become so political and no other prospect thread has had this happen.

It ties in, because a bunch of outsiders who never comment on LA are telling us what our team needs are and how Byfield doesn't fit them.

Personally I think he's the piece that 'completes' the forwards part of our rebuild, as a prototypical 1C. If best case happens and all our C prospects hit, that's a good problem to have, and we move some of Turcotte/Vilardi/JAD/Madden to wing instead.

So sick of this dismissive BS

Bob Mackenzie literally said it was his own opinion three times in that statement

Lisa Dillman literally got her information first hand from Rob Blake

Why is this so difficult?
Because you're in denial. There are so many sources that have linked the kings to Stutzle. A.J Jakubec doesnt b.s or lie about anything. Never has and never will. He never breaks news either. I also dont understand why Kings fans care so much, more scouts have Stutzle ahead its not like anyone here knows who will be better. As a Sens fan I couldnt care less which one they get they are both elite prospects I am just extatic were getting one of them.

You actually believe that its just MacKenzie's opinion? LOL why do you think he gets all the scoops? Because he buries his sources out right..... Nope he protects them, of course he said that its his opinion.

Jakubec's only previous take on the Kings was that Gagner to the Kings was a done deal. So you'll forgive us for taking with a grain of salt what some of you are inexplicably accepting as gospel.

"Why do Kings fans care so much?" they ask, as they continue to trot out report after report from sources with no Kings connections, while ignoring/mocking Kings connections.

Of course I'm with you that we're happy either way. Just getting sick of getting one guy crammed down our throats while those as in the know as you can get have different things to say and they're getting ignored/alternative views get dismissed.

You have an ongoing reading comprehension problem. That doesn't even begin to address what I said.

Nope wrong again. I was right beside him for the phone call haha. So yeah I believe him was at the same socially distanced draft party.

Get a grip the Kings are getting a star either way, please dont tell me you know who the better player will be either. No one does.

Both teams will be lucky to have either Byfield or Stutzle in their prospect systems. No one should be upset with who the other picks.

I am a contributor for MayorsManor, a Kings fan site. The editor, John Hoven, has a great deal of respect for Bob.

That said, he wouldn't disagree with Bob if he didn't trust his sources. And I trust him implicitly.

In his latest podcast, he feels that the Kings are more interested in Byfield. His co-host asked about the plausibility of trading down if the Kings are 50/50. Hoven said he thinks the Kings are that sold on Byfield that they would rather draft him than trade down with Ottawa to get an additional asset.

The utmost respect is owed to Bob. But you are doing him a disservice by making his opinion more than it actually is by passing it off as fact.

There are legitimate sources closer to the situation who feel it's more likely the Kings take Byfield.

As someone who’s been adamant about trusting Bob and his “opinion”, I respect the work you guys do as well. I guess we will see who LA takes at the draft.

regardless, back to Byfield. What a player. Same as Stutzle.

Agreed. My personal opinion, I like Byfield more than Stutzle. It boils down to this: I think the edge Byfield has in potential is bigger than the gap in current talent edge Stutzle has over Byfield. But I'd be happy with either though.

it is? how so

LA likes size down the middle. Byfield provides that along with excellent offensive and good defensive skills, but also with something Kopitar lacks, speed.

Kopitar, Vilardi and Byfield down the middle is typical LA hockey. Byfield is the poster child of LA Kings drafting.

Take that along with what most of the LA pundits believe and it's more sure Byfield is a King than death and taxes. 100%.

The only question is, is LA getting the better player.

So right now we have Bob Mckenzie, Mark Edward's, Sam Cosentino, AJ Jakubec, and the great Dominik Bokk (lol) suggesting LA is leaning towards Stutzle.

Then we have John Hoven, Lisa Dillman, Craig Button, and Kevin Weekes suggesting LA is leaning towards Byfield.

It's the battle of the sources!! Let's see who wins
