Didn't get the point on his faceoff win last night...but first official NHL point tonight.

Great shift with a couple of scoring opportunities that weren't finished, but a few good defensive plays resulted in him pushing the puck to Athanasiou who paused the play and waited for Anderson-Dolan streaking in for the goal.

First of many and he's looking more comfortable every shift.

Edit: also for fun #55's first point on 5/5 and same game of Kopitar's 1000th pt.

Fractured ankle, out indefinitely.

Really, REALLY unfortunate timing, as he was gaining momentum and confidence every game, and was BY FAR The best player on the ice last night...I know he'll stay motivated and hungry and hope he doesn't skip much of a beat.

Really hope all these injuries aren’t going to be a theme for him.

It depends on the break. Hopefully it is something simple, as opposed to what Suter and Weber which had them out for long periods of time.

LA seems to have the worst luck with injuries for their top prospects- first Gabriel Vilardi, now Quinton Byfield.
It goes way beyond that:
Tyler Madden basically missed all of last season with a collarbone injury
Brandt Clarke is currently out with Mono
Akil Thomas had double shoulder surgery and is currently out
Turcotte has had mono, appendicitis, and a nagging knee issue
Kupari had to have ACL surgery

Kings top 10 prospects have been hit hard with injuries/illness

you knew it was broken the moment you saw the replay. If Tom Cruise can recover from an ankle-break, so can our lord and savior, Quinton J. Byfield.

Damn that sucks, hopefully he returns sooner rather than later. He was looking real solid.

Still glad it seems like the best case prognosis for long-term health, even if its'a setback.

But bummed because he had a roster spot locked up per TM and honestly was looking like Malkin that last game. Dude was an unstoppable force of nature, even if still a bit raw. Those questions on if his speed/strength/reach will carry over vs. men...my goodness even at barely 19 he looked just about uncontainable.

You're gonna hate me for this, but he was stopped by Christian Fischer. He still needs to work on his strength. In juniors, he could put himself into those positions without getting beaten or injured because the other players were a lot smaller than him. That won't always work in the NHL, where there are guys his own size who can plaster him like we saw. He doesn't necessarily need to get bigger, IMO. He mostly needs to use the size that he has and shrug contact off, like Kopitar, or avoid vulnerable situations in the first place.

Christian Fischer was 25th in the league in hits per 60 minutes played for players with at least 25 games played last season. He's not exactly Bambi out there.

I didn't suggest that he is. In fact, I was suggesting the opposite, that he's 215lbs and knows how to use it, while Byfield is also 215lbs but still needs to learn how to use it at the NHL level so that he doesn't take the worst of contact with guys like Fischer.
