He's one I got it all wrong on. Really shows how much of a crapshoot it is to assess prospects. I watched a ton of him last year as I saw him as a potential steal relative to his perceived draft position. I felt that with better linemates and better finish, he could turn out to be Paul Kariya-lite. Instead it appears he may just be Paul Byron. Which still is OK for a 19th overall. But I thought he had more in him.

I think his floor is pretty good - as in a very good 3C who can play a 200' game with elite speed. I don't think we know what his ceiling is yet and I wouldn't say he can't become much better offensively. He turns 19 tomorrow so he's got a lot of learning and maturing in front of him.

The biggest thing for Moore is I think he needs to learn to be more effective as a complimentary player. He has that McDavid skating, but he doesn't have that McDavid puck game. If he can learn to use his teammates well, his speed can make him a 50-60 point player. If he doesn't and he's a tunnel-vision speed guy that thinks he can do more than he can and doesn't read well off his teammates, then the Paul Byron comparison is probably what he is and he only ends up a good bottom six guy.

He could, but it usually takes certain types of players to work well with these stars. They need players that can anticipate their genius. It isn't as easy as they'll play you pucks right in front for a tap-in. Not everyone can fit with them.

This isn’t really directed at you, but Moore’s floor is way lower than that. It’s a general pet peeve of mine because floor means worst case scenario, so no, worst case scenario for Moore isn’t elite 3C. That’s actually a pretty decent outcome.

Elite 3c is the lower end of his potential, I get what you mean though floor is bust for everyone and ceiling anyone could break out into a star, so I will say the upper end of his potential is a low end 1c that has a great transition game and two way play

I think his floor is higher than most. I also think his ceiling is lower than many think. I think he's definitely an NHL'er because of his skating and motor. At minimum, he's Tyler Motte, which is a good fourth liner.

I think more highly of him that you do but you could be right - too early to know for sure.

Not sure 'strong' is how I'd describe a 1st rounder with 14 goals in 59 college games.

He's a good prospect but an 80th percentile outcome is probably Wes Walz.
