Man if only he were a bit older. Slim chance we'll have a shot at him next year. Would make me less worrisome about the lottery lol.

Who would be drafted first if both were eligible in the same draft, Dubois or Patrick?
Most likely Patrick.
For some reason, the QMJHL has a reputation for being a weaker league.
1 goal and 2 assists tonight
If he was 2016 NHL draft eligible I think he'd be the first guy taken out of the WHL
Probably Patrick, Dubois still hasn't locked a top 4 spot. Patrick would be battling the fins and possibly Matthews. Big, skilled centers, 2 way centers rarely do what he's going in there 2nd WHL season, closest is Reinhart or RNH. He may be the best WHL center prospect of the pas 20 to 30 years. I really can't think of a center at in the WHL in that time frame I'd take over him while still a prospect. I mean Sakic and Getz went off to amazing careers, but weren't very high picks. His closest challengers are probably Reinhart and Marleau, but I could easily be forgetting someone.Who would be drafted first if both were eligible in the same draft, Dubois or Patrick?

It's funny, if you combined Draisaitl and Reinhart you would basically get Patrick.
I think that's actually a good comparison. He actually does really remind me of Modano to in some ways. Very solid two-way players with offensive upside.
I'd say Getz, not quite as mean but a better shot, possibly a better 2 way game. Modano was a top skater and I remember that the most about him, its like when someone compares someone to Bure, it doesn't work unless the guy is a truly elite skater such as McDavid or Mackinnon.Doesn't have the stride of Modano.
As an NHL comparable I've seen Lecavalier tossed around a bit I think that is a really good one. Not a mean player but like Vinny, he had the ability to drop the mitts when he got really fired up. Not a super flashy player but just a big body who is effective in all zones.

You also get into the basic problem of projecting high end two way centres ... they always look better when they hit that level than they ever looked at the time of the draft.
Getz was a late half 1st round pick, 19th OA.
Bergeron went in the middle of the 2nd round.
Toews was a high 1st round pick - 3 OA..but selected after E. Johnson and J. Staal.
Kopitar went 11th OA ... after several players who turned out pretty bad.
That's not to say Patrick can't max out as a high end 2-way guy. He is obviously very skilled. But it can't be ignored that none of the players he's projected as a comparable to were 1 OA guys.

Don't think Eichel's a high end 2 way guy, he's more in the offensive juggernaut style. A more recent example is Barkov, who surprised some people by going over Jones an Drouin. Sam Reinhart also fits this and went 2nd. Also, some of the 2-way guys drafted high in the time frame listed never fully made it like Jordan Staal; and Toews still went high. Getz if I remember correctly was viewed at the very least as a top 10 guy but slipped due to character concerns and Kopitar was lower due to barely being scouted til his draft year. Bergeron just drastically exceeded his draft position, I don't think it had to do with style of play like Giroux or Shea Weber.Eichel and Matthews are probably more recent examples of two-way guys going high in the draft though they both also has big offensive games which I think Patrick has as well.
With the success of guys like Toews, Kopitar, Getzlaf and Bergeron I think two-way centers are becoming valuable assets.
Usually the offensive juggernaughts get all the attention the Crosbys, Stamkos, Tavares, Mackinnons and McDavids.
I don't think Patrick will be that type of offensive player at the NHL level, I see him as more of the two-way guys who flirt with 70+ points in good years but are likely more in Selke conversations and being solid leaders on playoff bound teams.
Patrick is miles ahead of anyone in the next draft it would have to be a massive step for anyone to catch him at this point or for him to have a huge step back. Also Toews is the most overrated player in history lol i seriously like the comparasion to Rienhart over him.No surprise that I like Patrick so much, because If I had to pick a forward to start a new NHL franchise with, it would be Toews, and I think Patrick projects to be the next Toews. So, if Patrick goes third overall and has a Toews like career, I will be happy!
One thing I do know is that next season all the CHL second year draft 2017 eligible players will take a Big step up so should be an interesting race
Hard to compare the 16 year olds in euro leagues, but Timothy Liljegren looks special, and I don't think he would have to take a massive step forward. Comtois has very impressive numbers for a 16 year old in a CHL league.Patrick is miles ahead of anyone in the next draft it would have to be a massive step for anyone to catch him at this point or for him to have a huge step back.
