Prospect Info: C Noah Ostlund, 16th Overall, 2022 NHL Draft, Assigned to Rochester 4.17.24

Nashville board is stoked we took Ostlund. Their board is ecstatic . Nothing against Ostlund but Kemmel was a consensus top 10 pick that was gifted to us at pick 16. I hope the best for Ostlund and that Adams is right.
Oftentimes there is no wrong or right, or better/worse. In some cases it's clear -- McDavid is better than Eichel. But more often, two players can go their entire careers and no one will agree on who's better since there's really no standard unit of measuring who is best. Everyone has their own opinions.

I was hoping for Kemmel at the time too after Lekk got taken, but there's a reason why he dropped. Going from a top 3 potentially after his season start, getting injured and changing his playstyle and being much less effective. There were also people who watch that league regularly in his prospect thread say a lot of his production early on seemed to be lucky low chance goals.

I get the Sabres not interviewing him if we definitively had 9 guys above him, but we obviously knew there would be a chance he'd be available at 16. The fact we didn't even give him an interview tells me they didn't like what they saw and/or there is going to be some serious shoulder concerns going forward. Info we just don't know publicly.

After looking into Ostlund the day after the draft for a few hours I'm a lot more content now than I was at the moment of selection.

People upset because they were attached to Kemell on draft day are ignoring that at team with three first rounders, a team that nearly was picking at both 7 and 9 on the day of the draft, chose to NOT INTERVIEW the kid. Something in what they viewed and scouted of the kid had them THAT disinterested. They weren't taking him.

I’m happy for them.

and I look forward to them pulling their hair out when they see his shot selection and realize that his production was the flukiest of flukes.

Their entire list is usually only a hundred names long -- every team has lots of guys left off completely, even near the top like Kemell. I have a feeling he wasn't even on their list at all.

One of the most interesting prospects in this years draft for me, should end up the Sabres' first line center and a true superstar.

What? Why are you lying? The only one was Cal Petersen and Murray didn't pay any attention to him at the time. Ryan Johnson didn't sign a contract and left for UFA? No.
We still have Ryan Johnson's rights until Aug 15 2023

Top ten in the Wingate Fatigue test and top five in the Vo2 Max text at the combine 👀

I mean he was, not in any shape or form, a consensus top 10 pick. How do we know he wasn’t a consensus top 10 pick? Almost that many teams passed on him…after the top 10
