With Öhgren, & Lekkerimäki going to WJCs, Östlund has practiced on a line with Krüger, & Daniel Brodin, with Djurgården's coach saying they're spreading out the lines right now considering the former two are away.

He also says no lineup decisions have been made, but that the junior trio's line is "very, very good together." They won't make any decisions line-wise, will let the lines come to them, but that of course they've had an idea when they've signed who they've signed.

Calls Östlund an incredibly smart player, says he could play as a dman. And everything.

Says the trio will have big roles, as they're that skilled.

Djurgården is currently playing their first preseason game of the season. Östlund has scored a hattrick playing 1st line LW with Marcus Krüger (formerly Chicago and Carolina) and Daniel Brodin
This game televised at all? Will we get highlights?

I’m very interested in seeing the goals. One of the analysts I listened to before the draft really believed Ostlund had an entire part of his offense he just hadn’t had to use with his shooting given his role on the line. I won’t remember who it was…those breakdowns are lost. It’s interesting that he would immediately throw down a hat trick when pressed to play differently without Lekkerimaki and Ohgren.

This guy is a diamond, did anyone else doubt this choice?

Well…funnily the guy I wanted at 16 when we were up was Kulich so I’m always going to be perfectly happy with how it turned out. The only guys I would have considered honestly between 16 and 28 if we reversed it were Kemell and Yurov. Kemell because the value for his finishing was there and Yurov because I like his all around game…but they actually needed an Ostlund more in the system than those guys. The only high end silky playmaker they have who might end up down the middle is Krebs.

Experts are bitter he's not in the jwc. The excuse from the coach is ultra dumb as well: "it will be too much pressure for him his last jwc year if he's in now"

Like... Östlund can obviously handle pressure (u18). And he won't play the final jwc since he'll be in the AHL/NHL.

He could easily be over ppg in the HA, after that it will be better for him to learn how to apply his skills in AHL rather than the SHL.
I think he'll develop quickly.

This is you doing assuming the absolute best case scenario and also assuming Adams/Rochester won't allow him to go to the WJC. Which I also doubt he'd block that from happening.

I think we should absolutely slow cook him. Leave him overseas for another year or two, then the AHL. He needs some time to grow and fill out before he'll be ready for the NHL. He gets pushed around too much by his peers right now to even consider moving up. I think he'll be a good one but he's a lnger term project IMO.
