They all had a bout of injuries pre-U20's.

Anyway, another goal today, caught a rebound near the blue paint. With Krüger out his line was rolled as the de facto first line. Everybody on the line played 22+ minutes, only Stefan Elliott(Djurgården's 1D) played more. Best skater on the ice. Caught a shot on the lower side of his face at the very end, hopefully it's nothing.

Östlund will miss a couple of games apparently..

We were just talking not getting injured.. What a jinx.
Maybe you reversed it. He'll be playing tonight.

GM said he would miss a few games this morning while presenting a new player:

And in an interview released just two hours ago the coach said he had a x-ray and would miss a few weeks:

But.. He is in the lineup for the game that starts in an hour

:dunno:

I'm really become a believer in Ostlund because, aside from his skills & smarts, I love his motor and determination, and I think he's got enough of that to offset the size concerns and find a way to be a player. I like him MUCH better than Rosen.
I think he will be the best out of Ostlund, Savoie, Kulich and Rosen.

I just started watching video of him last week and he looks great. His shot has really come a long way and that was a knock on him.

Do not trade this guy!

Only one eye on the game - what the hell is DIF's goal song? It's set to the tune of Jinglebells is it not?

Ostlund's wearing a fishbowl cage.

Still on the PP and I was about to comment that he's struggling a little with pucks near his feet as one would expect with the visual obstruction of the mask... and he picks up a 2ndary assist on DIF's 2nd goal.

And the fact he may have a dislocated jaw lol

Agree with your post.

However, I am very concerned that the bolded section is copy and pasted in almost every high end prospect we have. Not one of our top 7 forward prospects have size.

I heard Ostlund got taller?

Finished with that 1 assist, 1 shot, 3 wins/7 losses at the dot and still 15:52 in TOI on 20 shifts despite his face being FUBAR and wearing the fishbowl. Tough kid, good game considering.
Nickname for the team/players are the iron stoves so he's got something to live up to.

44. Noah Östlund, C, 18 (Buffalo Sabres — No. 16, 2022)
July 2022 rank: Not ranked

Östlund’s calling card is his airy, agile skating stride, excellent hands, cleverness, and two-way ability. The skating and defensive aptitude (including on faceoffs) make him an able penalty killer and the rest give him clear tools of creation at five-on-five and on the power play. He wins a ton of short races, creates quickly as soon as he’s in possession, and darts around the ice in control to get into scoring areas or facilitate from the perimeter. His lack of size and strength are definitely going to be impediments as he progresses up levels, but he’s got the benefit of time, his skating, and the fondness coaches have for him to fall back on.

He’s silky smooth in possession and a superb puck transporter through neutral ice. He’s got a slippery quality that few players have, the puck just sticks to him in tight coverage, and he is a catalyst on his line in a variety of ways. He’s a nifty little player. Some scouts worry about whether he’ll be able to get to the inside/hold his own physically along the wall in the NHL (he has never scored a ton) but his approach and skating should help mitigate against that. I like him a lot. The flow. The work ethic. The ability to hang onto it or play in quick give-and-goes. His stick on steals. The changes of directions and cutbacks. There’s a lot to like.

He has been the most productive of the trio of first-round picks playing with Djurgarden this year, too. I’ll be interested to see what he does next year because he has another year on his deal with Djurgarden after this one but it has an out built in if they aren’t promoted back to the SHL from HockeyAllsvenskan.

There is lots to love about the player, but lets face it, at best he manages to find a way to endure the physicality of the NHL, but he will not likely bring a physicality to the team. SO......."patience," waiting for him to mature, will never bring the Sabres what they are needing to improve the team. As a trade chip he can.

You have no idea how much trade value he has right now.

If you think he is too small to ever be an effective NHLer, there may be a bunch of scouts thinking the same way.

I could see Ostlund as one of the forward prospects that eventually gets moved. But, I do not believe that he gets moved before coming to NA. But, we shall see.

Absolutely.

I am just thinking that in some of these trades where teams want X first round equivalent assets, if he still falls in that category then use him before he loses value. I am all for taking swings at smaller high skill guys in the midrounds, but definitely do not approve in the first round.

It's humorous someone would read that entire write up and pull out two sentences and then say we should trade them.

I think other teams have prospects they absolutely target and prioritize in talks and it is not just any former 1st that they will take in a deal.

The challenge is what teams really liked Ostlund heading into the draft and would want him in a deal? That is the huge unknown with not just Ostlund, but guys like Rosen, Savoie, Kulich, and everyone else that might get dangled in a deal.

It wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that he stacks 20 lbs of muscle or more on that frame without losing any part of his quickness.
One thing I like about Ostlund is that he might be the best C prospect that they have. And just because they have Thompson and Cozens locked up, they still need center depth behind them.

And you could see Ostlund turn into a better NHL center than Krebs within the next 4-5 years.
