30 lbs of muscle is way too much he would look like a body builder. I don't see him being much more than 190

He was 6'1.5 at the combine and weighed in at 179 pounds. I don't think it's inconceivable that he ends up at 200 pounds, just depends on his frame

NHL.com has him at 6"1 (I remember reading he was 6"1.5, to be precise) & 175lbs. That's probably as skinny (or even skinnier) as a soccer player, not a hockey player.

As a matter of fact, look at the table here: https://hockey-graphs.com/2015/02/19/nhl-player-size-from-1917-18-to-2014-15-a-brief-look/
It's about 2 years ago... It shows the average height and average weight of NHL players in the league... And that is 73.1 in (=6"1.1) and 201.2 lbs. So 6"1.5 + 205 would just be absolutely normal.

He wouldn't look like a body builder at all. I'd imagine he'd build a lot of muscle in his legs so you wouldn't even really tell. Taylor Hall is 6'1 205 and he looks perfectly normal.

Nico has a lot of lifting and training to do this offseason. I'd imagine he gets up to around 190ish before next season and then up to 205 over the following two seasons.

Hischier at 205 would be a freaking beast

He's already almost 180 if the combine numbers are correct. 30 pounds of muscle would take him to 210. Then you have to factor in his increased body mass gained that isn't just muscle your looking at higher than that. You can't just throw on 30 pounds of muscle and nothing else

right now, it will take time for him to develop muscle. Like Daniel Sedin, I will use as a comparison is 6'1 190 and looks fine. Connor Mcjesus is 6'1 195 but ragged dolled much more then Daniel because he's still young and still developing muscle mass, and it will probably come by his early 20's.

In 5-6 years he will probably add 10 lbs and decrease fat percentage. no need to add 30 lbs of muscle. Pavel Bure was 5'10 180 in his prime.

what a player hichier is. Well deserved to be the number 1 pick.

Somehow flying under the radar. This thread would be pinned to the top of the board if he'd gone to a Canadian team.

He's flying under the radar because of the two other rookies we have on our team. Nico has been great but Bratt has been much better. Which is no slight on Nico, Bratt has been the 2nd best rookie this season behind Keller, so far.... But that could change quickly.

The Devil’s three rookie scoring sensations is a great story. It is definitely getting some print, but if a Canadian team had three rookies this high up on the rookie scoring board it would be the busiest thread on the main board.

Excellent speed, skill, smarts, motor and 2-way play, what's not to like? Looks like a good 1C in the making, with franchise C potential. Reminds me of a sort of halfway point between Krejci and Crosby.

Before the season started I was thinking he'd be a below average 1st overall pick, but I'm now thinking average, with a chance to be above average. Not a Crosby/Ovy/McDavid/Matthews level pick, but I think he ends up closer to Stamkos/Tavares/Kane than the weaker 1st overall picks like Yakupov/RNH/EJ/Fleury/Ekblad. It's very early, but he's so far looking comparable to guys like MacKinnon and Hall, who I'd rate as roughly average 1st overall picks.

Including RNH and Yakupov in with EJ/Fleury/Ekblad doesn't seem accurate to me.

There's a wide range in talent among those 5, with Yakupov especially way below the rest, but IMO those are the fairy clear bottom-5 1st overall picks of the last ~15 drafts.

It would be incredible if Nico ends up in the Stamkos/Tavares/Kane tier, but it's way too early to say, and all of those guys are truly incredible players. But I do expect Nico to be a fairly solid 1OA pick, better than the guys you mentioned as well as Hall and MacKinnon for sure.

Aside from being 18 and getting manhandled at times, his biggest weakness so far as just been adjusting to the NHL and what he can/can't get away with. Like when he's breaking out, he's used to just blowing by defenders along the wall but that's hard to do at the NHL level and he's been caught multiple times so far.

I said it on the Devils' board but it's almost a shame that his play is being overshadowed so much Bratt, and to a lesser extent Butcher, because Nico's been phenomenal. He's playing big minutes for the team as their first line center already at the age 18 and not only does he not look out of place, he's succeeding out there.

Gretzky supposedly is a big fan of Hischier's game . Gretzky texted Ken Daneyko and told him this.

His on-ice shooting percentage is v high tho. I suspect his goal scoring will go up but he'll get less assists

The elite players in the league usually have that going for them. He's 59th in the league in all-situational on-ice shooting % so far. It'll go down, but probably not by a whole lot.

I think he'll end the season around 20g 35a. Every Devils fan would gladly sign up for that.

I'd go higher on the assists. Of the last nine 1st overall picks, only McDavid had more assists/60 than Hischier in his rookie year. That includes John Tavares, Auston Matthews and Taylor Hall.

I vehemently disagree. Nico is playing a much bigger role on this team than Bratt and he's being put out there against the other team's top checking unit, and normally top player, for extended amounts of time and holding his own. He's been the first line center for this team, essentially since the third or fourth game of the season and has basically lead them, along with Hall, to first in the metro so far. That's an incredible feat.

I pretty much agree with this. Love both kids, but Nico has been extremely impressive considering what he is being asked to do.
