Barring a disastrous 9 game stint, I see no way he's sent down. He looks ready and the loss of Zacha will give him prime minutes and good opportunities.

Yup, Nico looks very much ready for the big leagues. His defensive game is better than I expected, and I was already expecting it to be pretty good. He's very cognizant of his positioning and his stick work and battle along the boards is superb. Offensively he's getting better each shift. Especially since he's been put with Palmieri and Hall, he's fitting in very well with them.

The Habs colour guy was gushing over Nico's defensive game near the tail-end of the 3rd. Rightfully so, he's been incredible.

With the puck on his stick i like Hischier's playmaking ability more. With the puck off his stick I like Patrick more.

These guys are two very different centers. Hischier reminds me of a datsyuk , where he can create from nothing. Patrick reminds me of toews who is smart and sees the play and is able to get it off his stick and be ready for a quick snipe.

This is the kind of Flyers fan I like... he can reason, and his reasoning makes sense.

And more importantly than that, I can agree to it.

Excellent game at both ends. Dave Poulin was practically drooling on the broadcast over his defensive game.

He's sooooo good. That pass to Palmieri was sick, shame Palms couldn't burry it. Can't wait to watch him on a regular basis. Swiss Datsyuk

Hynes in the post game confirmed that Nico is forcing them to consider using him in an expanded role due to his play.

They are still trying to temper expectations, especially by anyone trying to compare him to the last two first overalls.

Nico very well may be the #1C soon enough. He's THAT good and was making things happen with Hall. A kid to be that defensively responsible at his age is such a rarity these days, on top of his playmaking, speed, hockey sense, goal scoring etc. Watch out when he puts on more weight.

The center depth of Nico, Zacha, Zajac/Mcleod, Boyle is looking so promising right now.

The thing I love about him too, he wants to be good and is doing the little things to ensure he will be.

Glad Nico is playing well.

The Halifax Mooseheads fan in me wishes he was sent back so Halifax could go after another Memorial Cup. But he is NHL ready for sure.

Extremely pleased to hear Nico has been playing well. I've seen the goals, and they were nice, but other than that haven't seen him play. Would he fit well on the first line or should he be eased in as a second line center?

He could slide into the first line center because the most impressive thing about this kid is he plays defense like a 30-year-old vet who has won a couple Selke's, that area of his game has impressed me more than his offense, which in itself has been superb.

The first line center for the Devils will be between Hall and Palmieri. Johannson has gotten the first crack at it, anchoring the line to start both games they've played but has only been OK and may be better utilized as a LW, where he mostly played with Washington.

Henrique and Zacha are also options to center that line - Zacha has been really impressive this camp, but I could see him centering the 2nd line with Johannson and Stafford.

I would like to see Nico start as the 1C as he looked good on that line last night.

Nico is an impressive kid.

Although the 2017 draft wasn't touted as highly as some other recent drafts, it's noteworthy that the top two picks have such well-rounded games at such an early age.

His defensive game is mature enough that he could slide into 1C, but I think the staff tries to protect him at bit and at best he starts at 2C.

A goal and 2 assists tonight, up to 4 goals and 7 points in 4 games.

He's been unbelievable, he elevates the play of whoever he's on the ice with. He just keeps getting better and more comfortable every game.
