Agreed. Tatar had 45, 46, 34 point seasons coming to Montreal. No way he had more value than Suzuki at the time of the trade.
I'd say him and Suzuki probably had very close value.
Vegas paid a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. It didn't work out, but it doesn't mean he was worth anything on the market all of a sudden.

I hope all that garbage from Blues and Kings fans saying top players don't return top prospects ends.

Suzuki's been absolutely fantastic.

Amazing hands, vision and IQ. He stole the no.2C spot from KK and Domi. He's on his way to the no.1C spot. He makes mistakes, but in general he's been great both ways.

I’m super happy to admit I was wrong about him. I wasn’t impressed with him last pre season and at the world juniors. I’m usually not high on soft players who lack speed but he’s been great this season.

He's neither sorf or lacking speed.

Reminds me of a lot of Bergeron with better hands but needs to work on his defensive game to reach his level.

Don't think he'll ever have that strong of a defensive game, but I'll admit I'm pretty stoked on Suzuki. Last year he was just so clutch and impressive in the OHL playoffs that I knew he'd be a good one, but I didn't think he was gonna get that good that fast. With further progression on his part we're probably looking at a 60-70 point two-way #1 center in his prime to go along young guys like Kotkaniemi and Poehling plus Domi and Danault.

There's no absolute superstar on that list but we've got some pretty good depth at C now and for the future. We still need some more top-end talent though and a stronger defense.

Suzuki will easily be a PPG player in his prime..
I actually think so too and I’m usually fairly conservative in my estimates. I think KK projects as 65-75 2 way centre. I think Suzuki has more offense to his game. Both are extremely smart on the ice. In 2 years, I think Caufield should eventually be with KK as Suzuki imo has a better shot than KK. Pair Suzuki with Domi and someone else - someone with size like Armia who can get them the puck.

in 2 years (because I think Caufield needs another year at Wisconsin. Similar to Q Hughes who spent 2 years in college. I think Caufield can benefit from that too)

domi - Suzuki - Armia
Gallagher - KK - Caufield
Lehkonen - Danault - Tatar

Lines are interchangeable 1-2-3...
I think Poehling is odd man out. I’d like to see him moved for defense or packaged with someone else/pick for a bigger impact player/higher pick

Dude what?? Gallagher playing LW and Tatar RW??Where is Drouin??Either Tatar or Domi will be traded not Drouin.

Better chance of going like this

Domi-Suzuki-Gallagher
Drouin-KK-Armia
Lehkonen-Danault-Caufield
Byron-??-??

It's crazy, Suzuki is turning out to be their best prospect of the three, glass suzuki and brannstrom

This kid is a stud hopefully he continues to grow and not have the bad seasons in montreal influence him in a bad way too much.

I was debating with my friends over this, but isn't it awful and disgusting that most of our picks from 2011 to 2015 are either traded or didn't make the team except for Lehkonen and maybe Vejdemo here. It's absolutely unacceptable.

My point is, look at how we got a gem in Nick Suzuki, and he wasn't drafted by us. There is something absolutely wrong with Trevor Timmins and Bergevin's way of drafting and evaluating talent. I truly believe we need fresh mentality and new management to change our current situation. Go for kids who oozes offensive talent instead of "best assett available" b/s.

What truly sets him apart is his hockey IQ. Smartest Habs forward I've seen in a long time. He more than makes up for his lack of explosiveness with his anticipation and deceptiveness.

I see the Bergeron comparison getting thrown around a bit but to me he plays a bit more of a skill game. I'd have him somewhere between Datsyuk and Bergeron. It's pretty crazy to see how quickly he adapted to the NHL after looking completely out of place in last year's camp. This kid could definitely be a 1C going forward.

Not a Habs fan but watch a lot of their games and Suzuki is tremendous. Already has the skills and iq of someone who’s been in this league for years. MB gets a lot of crap but he got a great return from the Knights. Knew it at the time it was good trade now looking like a great trade

I can’t believe this is the same player that I watched last year in the Memorial Cup. He was lack lustre and hardly noticeable. Right now he looks fantastic. Great to see a young kid take off like he has. Great hands and looks like he knows how to use them. Looks like he’s become one of Juliens go to guys in pressure situations

Suzuki was a higher pick than all but 1 of those players. Also, it's not like Montreal didn't draft for high offensive ceiling with Caufield this past year.

Personally, I totally see this comparison; they have similar skating, physical builds and their 200 foot hockey IQ are both through the roof. For now Suzuki definitely appears to have more skill but Bergeron is also extremely skilled, over the years he's adapted and plays a simplified game by choice. It's hard to say where Suzuki will be in a couple years but Bergeron style is definitely a possibility.
