Mackinnion was by far the best skater last night in a 4-1 win against Moncton. Very few giveaways, controlled the PP, and scored a nice penalty shot. With Fucale coming up big as well these two by far the Mooseheads biggest assets.

Another 2g 1A tonight versus Moncton, can anybody give me an NHL comparable? Unfortunately I don't get the opportunity to watch him all that often out in Alberta.. From the limited youtube viewings I've seen, his speed seems unbelievable! I know he's far from the second coming of Crosby, but I'm curious to know if he projects to be anything like any active NHLers.

Also what are some realistic projections for next year? Is 100+ points possible?

Thanks

I don't get to watch him very often, but he is such a smooth skater. Makes great plays at high speeds, and controls the flow VERY well. He's some kinda player. I'd imagine he couldn't do much to drop far next draft. I don't really know a player he's comparable, as I don't watch him often enough.

Being a Moose fan this come out a bit biased and make him sound like Gretz ;) But he is the fastest skater in Q probs. He can beat anyone wide and is pretty big for his age too. His shot is great and has the moves and vision... No way he's not the 1st forward taken next year... I know a lot can change but I really don't see him dropping too far. Halifax will be a scout hot-bed next year as it will be a championship run year... Drouin, Fucs and Nate, so he'll have plenty of eyes on him in his draft year. :)

NHL Comparison: Idk really, whoever fits that lol ^

Oh and his HON goal in Game 1.... What a thing of beauty. His other goal in Game 1 was good too. Quick release top cheese. Crowd was really into, and he's a large part in how AVG. attendance being up 1200+ from last year, and 4000+ from last years playoffs :amazed: lol

I'm really lost when trying to compare his style to a current NHL'er.

Maybe a faster/more skilled prime Rick Nash? I don't know, any help here.

Phil Kessel maybe :dunno: I agree, His game is really hard to compare to a current NHL'er. I think 105-110 points next year is attainable. Potentially even more depending on who he plays with.

Look at his acceleration, it's unreal! Though he goes so fast it seems he runs out of options because no one can keep up with him lol. I think he'll learn to slow the game down as well which will help him out in the long run. Can't wait to see him next year at the World Juniors, he'll introduce himself to the World!!!

Wow was that him that went through his legs at the ~1:30 mark? Unreal goal, from that video he reminds me a bit of Tyler Seguin

In terms of his skating, speed, puck handling, physicality and general style of play he reminds me a lot of Taylor Hall. He's more of a playmaker, though, and I think he'll be a center as opposed to a winger at the NHL level, but Hall comes to mind most in terms of his killer speed/acceleration, and excellent 1-on-1 abilities.

As for next year, who knows. He put up 78 points in 58 games this year, that's a pace of 91 points per 68 games, not far off 100. However, he probably won't play the full 68 games next year, he'll likely miss some games for the WJCs, and injuries can happen at any time. I could certainly see him playing at a pace of 100 points per 68 games, but actually hitting 100, who knows.

What about Patrick Marleau as a comparison, both great skatering centers with top offensive talent. Like I said I haven't seen him play enough to formulate an opinion just spitting out names to see if one sticks.

I don't know if I'd call him the fastest player in the Q. But he definitely get's to his top speed the quickest. I can't think of any player who has a first 3 strides like MacKinnon's.

Another highlight reel goal I'm hearing from MacKinnon tonight... Will try and find video soon.

Halifax sweeps Moncton, likely upcoming series with Quebec #scoutsheaven

Guess it was a coast to coast, went around three guys and roofed it backhand.

QMJHL streams are the definition of garbage lol

Dat Speed. Unreal when you go to the games too.
