Wow, this post makes me question your own intelligence. Your opinion is one you are entitled to, however you need to express it in a better way.

same, that post was kinda odd

You're better off ignoring him. He's a born and bred Finn that idolizes anything Russian/Soviet to a degree that even the actual Russians here are embarrassed by some of the things he says. :shakehead

How is he skating... hard to believe that he is doing so well now considering how bad he was and that canada russia tournament.. has anyone actually watched him play? (I understand that tourny was the first time seriously playing in a while)

I've watched most of his games. He generally dominates in terms of puck possession, has been lethal on the PP with his ability to put his passes and shots right through defenders, and has been solid enough defensively (very smart with his stick and generally good positioning). His faceoffs need a fair amount of work, and he isn't always super physically engaged though. Last night was definitely his best game of the season so far. Could've just as easily gotten 7 assists as 1 the way he was playing. Made a lot of defenders miss in that game and created a lot of legitimate scoring chances.

Also, the Can-Rus series is a pretty meaningless set of games, and a small sample size, and isn't really worth judging on. Yakupov looked pretty pedestrian in that series as well, but we still all know he's actually a great prospect.

And the thing is that this is the stupidest possible reason leave Russia and play in Canadian juniors. They ruin their hockey development to impress NHL scouts. Only a full Pejorative Slur would do that.

When they turn 20 they realize what a mistake they made but it is too late then. One thing I don't understand is why the younger Russian generations continue to repeat the same mistakes that the older generations made. Low IQ? Western propaganda? Nobody cares about them in Russia? Or what?

I'd like to know what you think about the failed progression of promising Russian developed prospects such as Alexander Nikulin, Ilya Zubov, Pestunov etc to name a few.

Another 2 goals tonight... 6+10=16 in 7 games

Awesome! Let's see if he can keep this pace up for the whole season. Last year he finished with a 1.44 PPG average. This year he is at 2.3. I would expect him to improve from last years numbers for sure and so far he is doing just that. Let's hope that continues throughout the year and improves on his face offs.

Grigs leading the Q in points in 2 less games then Danult.

It took Grigorenko 66 games to get his 100th point in the QMJHL. Radulov did it in 76 games and he was a year older.

Please don't make comparisons to Radulov!!!
Radulov is a fantastic player though, regardless of his reputation in North America that he doesn't even deserve.
Of course, the truth was ignored when it came out because it would have made everyone who ran with the story look stupid.

Nothing surprising. His draft fall was the Couturier effect, amplified tenfold because he's Russian. When all is said and done he'll be the best player from the draft by a healthy margin.

That´s a bold statement. But I definitely think there will be multiple teams that regret that they passed him over.

I agree, there's no guarantee, but the way he played his last game, if he could play like that on a consistent basis with a little more intensity, my goodness he will be a stud. :)

The things he can do with the puck is just incredible, it's still junior level but he's making defenders look just awful out there.

Still think Toronto shouldve taken this guy. It wouldve solved positional need, + it wouldnt have been drafting by need either, because he is potentially one of the top players coming out of this draft.

I dont, they are quite thrilled with Reilly and he was their guy. They got a very good prospect in him, they have et themselves up well moving foward and can add another top prospect at the 2013 draft which has a number of project high end fowards. I also dont think Grigorenko would be a very good fit in Toronto's market.

Yeah. If Toronto ends up in the top 5-10 at the draft this year, there will be some really good options at center that are probably more Burke-type players, ie: MacKinnon, Monahan, Barkov or maybe someone like Domi if they pick a bit lower.

I couldn't be happier that Toronto (and 10 other teams) passed on Grigs though. He and Girgensons are exactly what the Sabres needed down the middle...A really, really gifted playmaker with some size who knows how to run a PP, and a big, gritty two-way guy with intangibles.

It's great to see Grig doing well but The leafs made a fantastic pick. Grig is now looking like a shoe in top5 pick, but that's easy to say with the excellent power of hindsight. Leafs had no buisness picking him, they are a team that really needed the safe pick. And at number 5, Rielly is as safe as it gets.

I'm not saying Rielly was a bad pick but I don't understand how you can say that a player who missed 60 games last year is a 'safe pick'. I'm a Habs fan and a lot of other Habs fans say Galchenyuk was the safest pick... drafting a player coming back from a huge injury isn't 'safe'.

On a side note, whats the story with Kucherov? Why isn't he with the team yet?

He has been injured for quite a while now. But he is almost 100% and should be in the lineup very shortly.

I assume it will take him 1-2 games to get used to everything but he's so talented so it shouldn't take to long.

Dominating the Q to dominating the NHL is a big jump. He should be a good player, but there is a reason he dropped. There was a good group of defensemen and a lot of teams were targeting them.

He was the 4th top forward taken. I would say he's better than Galchenyuk and Forsberg though.

the only reason that Reilly is a safe pick and Grigorenko isnt is sadly because of their passports. My belief is If Grigorenko were Canadian he would have gone top 2 last year.

On a side note I heard that Edmonton had him ranked 3rd and that a few other teams had him top 5 still, Buffalo apartenly had him at #4.
