Not sure if serious???

Personally, I doubt Burke had Grigs in their top 5. Actually, I wonder if Yakupov was on Burke's top 5.

Grigs has a lazy looking skating stride, he may not be as lazy as some make him out to be...but that skating style of his makes it look worse. Similar things were said of Sundin's stride when he was younger, it's not an uncommin observation on the taller players.

You say that the leafs wouldn't have had him in their top 5, then compare him to Sundin?

Cause your opinion on grigs is relevant to Burke having him in the top 5.

Burke states that "he loves grigorenko" but isn't sure if he is NHL ready for next year.

First of all, I never gave my opinion on Grigorenko, I just speculated that he's not the type of player that Burke would take in the 1st round...if you don't believe me you are welcome to check how many Russians Burke has drafted in the 1st round.

Secondly, given the context, are you seriously going to take Burke's comments about Grigorenko at face value? Especially prior to the draft? If Burke didn't like him, do you expect him to say so? Considering how desperate the Leafs are for a #1 center, if Burke "loves Grigorenko" then he would have drafted him...over a defenceman whom we already have a similar version of...no?

First off, I'd hardly call that comparing him to Sundin.

Secondly, you will have to enlighten me as to what Sundin has to do with the Leafs ranking of Grigorenko??? I am really curious as to what logic you used there...

Is Sundin exactly the type, if not exact player the Leafs wish they had now?

You seemed to be saying that people are making to big a deal as to the stride Grig has, making him look lazy, as that was the way Sundin use to be viewed.

Yes, but wouldn't implying that Grig's deficiencies could be overblown the same way Sundin's were 20 years ago imply that he could have the same type of progression?

No, saying that Sundin was also considered to have a lazy looking stride does not imply that Grigs will have the same type of progression. I was just pointing out that it's common in taller players, to have that lazy looking stride.

Yes the Leafs could use a Sundin clone, which Grigorenko is not.

Hence why I said he had Reilly number one. It's not insane to believe he had grig in his top 5. And that is why Reilly was selected over Grig because he believed he was BPA and you always take BPA in a situation like the leafs had(top 10 pick). So I have reason to believe that since Burke, quote on quote " loved him", had grig in his top 5.

And same goes to your point, why would he say he loves him if he actually didn't think he was a solid hockey player.

At least a couple of reasons, it would be very unprofessional to bash a prospect publicly even if they have no intention of drafting him. Secondly, it would incredibly stupid to reveal your true feelings on prospects to other teams, prior to the draft...it would be akin to a card player revealing his hand. How come he never said he "loved Rielly" prior to the draft? Answer: he wanted him.

I guess you must not be a Leaf's fan, because none of us believe anything that Burke says. We don't even buy into him having Rielly 1st overall.

If I'm not mistaken, Grigs had an underwhelming performance when Burke watched him, yet Burke "loves him"? I could be wrong about Grig's performance that game, but it was during his mono phase...

Alright well I believe he had him in his top 5 , you don't , lets just end it there.

Mats Sundin? You must have him confused with Mark Messier or Gordie Howe perhaps...it happens

Uh no. Sundin was a cheap wuss who would punch players after the whistle, aka every game against the Sabres. I was pleased he never won a cup he was a grade A scum.

As for Grigs, he is dominating the CHL... It's nice to have a franchise center prospect in the system.
