What concerns me since Alex Nylander has left for the Worlds. Mcleod has no points in 3 games and is a -5.

It is reasonable to expect a team to miss it's star player, but Mcleod needs to right this ship since he is projected as a top 10 pick this draft.

I noticed the same thing. Personally, I would characterize my reaction more as "disappointed" than "concerned" (I've watched McLeod enough to be satisfied that the positive attributes of his play aren't reliant on Nylander). Having said that, I expected more of him with Nylander gone.

Skill aside, I've always seen McLeod as a very competitive-minded player, going back to his Marlies days - and I was expecting that in Nylander's absence he would look more aggressive than he did.

I got you. Maybe both. For me I look at players as a scout would. I am thinking here is a chance for Michael to step up and show he is a top pick without Nylander. Thus maybe his zero points in 3 games is a concern and a disappointment from a scout's perspective. I was less sold on him as I was on Alex as I posted in October. Still I am open to seeing him develop in the 2nd half of the year.

good size, can skate, has a great shot, good overall hockey skills and IQ...and he works hard...shoulda been on team canada

Very interesting.

As someone who watches players as a scout would, what can you say about his last 3 games other than 0 points in 3 games that has disappointed ?

Is he injured right now? Checked the box scores on the OHL site to see if he had produced any points since the OHL resumed from their X-Mas break, but hasn't played.

Returns this afternoon against presumably a Konecny-less Ottawa. Hope he comes out flying and amped up to be back from suspension.

Plus it's his bobblehead game...

Mcleod now scoreless in 4 games with Nylander. Had a ok game I thought. But for a highly touted prospect. You would come away being disappointed by the quiet showing. Played with his brother today on Left wing with Nylander's absence.

Disappointing that he hasn't done well offensively without Nylander. A lot of reports about him sounded great.

He didn't have Bastian either today. But even when he did. He did not produce any offence. He is rated higher than Laine on ISS and only 1 ahead of Nylander. Sadly , is not playing to this high ranking. He hit a post today off a glove. But he was not dangerous offensively pretty much all game. Played with his usual effort though. No critique there.

Tried a little too much today. Even though they weren't his usual line mates he might have benefited from working with them a little more.

He's does not look as effective a player without Nylander IMO. Not saying he is a bad prospect. But I have do have some concerns just how much of an offensive player he is. He is ranked 5th overall by ISS as of Dec 2, ahead of Nylander and Laine which is silly IMO.

He's not at that caliber of a player right now.

He always works hard, does not cheat you by willing to do the dirty work. Makes some nice passes. But he does not create offence easily. And now 4 games with Alex Nylander, being pointless. He has not done much to dispel these concerns.

Yeah I'm not wasting a top 10 pick on him, maybe even top 15. There are just so many other players that look better at this point.

anyone actually seen this kid play instead of looking at Stat Sheet? rated the the number 2 centreman in this draft, whats his potential?

reputable scouting sources Mckeen has him at number 2

ISS has him at number 5,

meanwhile hockeysprospects.com has him at number 14.

How many shots in the 4 games w/o Nylander? If he's getting his shots and they're not going in, it's not a big deal

Yeah, he's getting his shots. One game he had no shots, but the others he was fine.

He's for sure going in the top 10 IMO. Grant McCagg has him in his top 5, and I bet he gets a lot of input from the NHL's scouting community

I still think he'll go top 10. I doubt most scouts are as reactionary as people on this board.
