Mike richards is 5'11 and not great foot speed.

McLeod is 6'2 as a 17 year old (with room to grow) and an explosive skater.

Mike Modanno maybe? Modanna was a 6'3 fast skating son of a gun.

Didn't think McLeod's offensive output was projected to be that high? Maybe a David Backes might be a decent player comparable?

McLeod could just as easily stay 6'2, but that is still good size to have up the middle.

From the descriptions he sounds like a center version of current Blake Wheeler.

Great speed, great not elite hands, good board work, never gives up on a play, can play with anyone and make them better. Our best forward night in and night out.

Very accurate. He's got some slick hands, just check out is first OHL goal.

Modano might have been a stretch. I've always said Jason Spezza but that may be due to the Mississauga connections.

Skating was always Spezza's weakness. I dont think McLeod has Spezza's hands/vision combination. Thats not a knock, just that Spezza's ability to perceive and execute is superb.

To me, from the clips I've watched, his skating reminds me a bit of Jeff Carter- tall, fast and upright.

Solid comparison.

McLeod has a bit more jump to his step, though. His first two or three strides off the hop are better than Carter's, in my opinion.

Just a great skater.

4th game I watch, 3rd live:

Today was definitely the worst game I've seen from him.

Pros:
Faceoffs (17/25)
Speed
Set up a teammate in the slot with a very good pass mid-way thru the 2nd
Defensively - He looked good, killed penalties and won a lot of key draws in the defensive zone
Used his body a lot, and battled hard against the boards
Used his body effectively when setting up in front of the goalie on a PP

Cons:
Over passing from that line early on in the game, Niagara was able to break up a lot of plays when that line went for the extra pass leading to --
McLeod rushing in trying to go 1 on 5, he went for some pretty reckless rushes which were broken up, 1 for sure directly lead to a Niagara goal, and another either went in for another goal or gave Niagara a prime scoring chance (Can't remember clearly)

Well, Carter is one of the best skaters in the world...

McLeod even kind of looks like him:

Scored a disgusting backhand goal moments ago.

Out-skated two Colt players from his own end to beat out an icing, picked up a loose puck, made two moves to the outside and buried a backhander low blocker.

Showed some ridiculous speed and hands in a phonebooth.

Wow what a skater
Seems like the complete package centre at the moment. His coach regularly used him on the PK units today

His whole line, including Nylander and Bastian, is impressive

Best game I have seen Mcleod play today. He is still a player that has room to improve on. And this makes him interesting to follow this year. I said I wanted him to catch up to Nylander in terms of polish earlier this year. And to me he is, but Nylander is still ahead of him at this moment in terms of being a more polished player. There is no denying Mcleod has the makings of a good player. I see him as a Ryan Kesler type player. Perhaps more of a very good #2C than a very good #1C. But again, we will see how much more he develops as we head later into the year.

How's he doing without Alex Nylander in the lineup for Mississauga?

Looking at the box scores, he has 0 points and a -5 through 3 games without Alex.

How high do you think he will end up being picked?

Secondly is he physical in terms of throwing hits? I see someone has commented that he uses his size well to protect the puck.

No he's not a hitter, but he's good in the corners and works hard. He's struggled to put up points but he's still creating chances.

5-10 probably.

I think he goes quite a bit lower honestly.. I mean look at his production without nylander. Small sample size for sure but it's pretty evident that Alex is the smartest and most talented on that line. McLeod is just the fastest.

You just revealed to everyone that you've never seen McLeod play.

There's absolutely no way he falls out of the the top 10. The tools he brings to the table are so valuable, especially at the centre position. NHL teams are going to love his combination of speed, size, and IQ.

Is that what I just did? I thought what I did was formulate my own opinion.

Like every other draft ever, there's always players that drop in the draft, warranted or not. You can go on about his tools all you want, imo I don't think he's a smart hockey player. I've seen him numerous times, wheeling the puck from his own end, trying to go 1 on 4 only to loose the puck or have the play materialize into nothing. His feet are also a lot faster than his hands, and also has these spurts of tunnel vision that indicate, to me, a player with low/average iq.

What he is, is an elite skater that has a good work ethic. His shot is average, and his stickhandling isn't caught up with his skating at the his point. Again I would hesitate taking him in the top 10, he's probably 10-15 at this point for me.
