C Mason McTavish - Peterborough Petes, OHL (2021, 3rd, ANA)

Here's the full video.... you can't even see the puck at regular speed

I tried to pause, but still didn't see the puck. Is there evidence he ACTUALLY scored? He might just be magically taken the puck, raising his hands and selling the refs like that who get confused and just count it as a goal. McT later drops the puck in the net when noone sees it :sarcasm:

It's unbelievable. even frame by frame in slow-mo I can't get a frame where I see puck from his stick to the goal. All I can find is a frame where puck meets mesh.

Yeah.

In the NHL he will have less time to shoot it, so I am a bit concerned how that will translate. For example. Silfverberg had a fantastic shot and was almost unbeatable in the shootouts but he was never able to utilize it in the game. That being said, BigMac seems much quicker to release his shot than Silf ever was.

Two more goals today. 9 goals in 7 games since being sent to Juniors.

Not to hype him too much but this reminds me so much of Draisaitl. Gets traded and explodes, big body, good but not elite skater. Can score and move the puck.

Mind trading him out east Anaheim so we don't have to play him a bunch every year

He gives me Pavelski vibes but I'll be happy with Drai

Ouch.

See a poor mans Mark Messier to me. Is he going to the Olympics? He really should be going.
Do you realize how good JT Miller is right now? He's been a top 15 offensive producer over the last 3 years. I'm sure Anaheim would be more than happy to have McTavish become a player of Miller's caliber. Calling him Mark Messier lite is a stretch at this point in the game.

No, that tweet was a spoof.
Danny Heatley will not be on team Canada, and neither will McTavish.
My mistake. Do you have any additional info about ELC players not being able to participate? I hadn't heard that before, and everything that I've found/read speculates that McTavish is on the short list for team Canada.

Agree to dissagree. Mactavish is a way better player and prospect at this age than Miller was.

He's going to be underrated just like Drysdale is, welcome to being an Anaheim Duck. He just keeps trucking along, I wanted Edvinsson or Eklund but at this point this kid is doing everything asked of him and producing at an elite level everywhere we send him. Props to him he's been in so many different places, Anaheim, San Diego, WJC, Peterborough and now Hamilton..... and now possibly China?

Oh, I definitely agree with that. But I'm looking at what Miller is now, which is a 6ft 1, 200+ lbs gritty swiss-army knife who can play at a PPG+ and does it all. I think Mctavish could reach this level sooner and boast the better career (Miller's been a bit of a loose canon for much of his career) but I don't quite see him being a Getzlaf-level player, who was the prototypical big/tough #1C of the last decade and a bit. That said, he could very well end up being that good but we'll have to see.

My hope for Mm was to be maybe a Kesler type of players he doesnt skate like him but others have compared him to Backes. Basically a big power center with a goal scoring touch maybe he has a higher ceiling than originally thought, he has some Perry like moves around the net also...will be interesting to see how he's utilized on the PP. I guess a smart team would try to get him to shoot as much as possible

I think I owe you an apology @LuckyDucky. I thought that anyone signed to an NHL contract was ineligible.
