C Mason McTavish - Peterborough Petes, OHL (2021, 3rd, ANA)

10 sog 3 goals a good strong game tonight. It will be interesting to see if The Pete’s are tempted to go for a run. Will they buy or sell ?

Looking like a real man amongst boys in the first WJC game thus far... You can tell he has had NHL game and practices. He is going to be a real good compliment in style to Zegras & Terry.

I think it's interesting that he wasn't seen as a very dynamic player last year but he's been highly dynamic and creative so far.
I keep saying this but there's a reason he was where he was on Mckenzies rankings he must've showed some stuff in the viewings they had last year

He's definitely progressing nicely. You can tell he has NHL practice/game experience. He is like 20-30 pounds heavier than everyone out there but can also outskate and outskill most of them.

Great time to be a Ducks fan.

Zegras and McTavish looks like it has potential to be a future top-five 1/2 centre punch in the league. They’ve got a really nice group of U-25 players at the NHL level. I think it’ll be important for them to retain Lindholm, but this teams’ trajectory is definitely on the upswing moving forward.

Yes our center depth looks great.. Need a replacement for Shattenkirk asap and Lindholm needs to be signed 100%.

Zegras (2 way creative playmaking stud)
McTavish (2 way center in the mold of Pavelski/Kesler)
Lundestrom (literally a Danault clone)
Groulx (grinder with some hands)

Thought he was probably the best Canadian forward tonight, though Perfetti and Johnson were both very good too. But yeah, he’s big, plays hard, lots of skill, high hockey IQ, there’s a lot to like. I do think he has “rich man’s Bo Horvat” upside.

Yeah, he made a lot of very creative passes that lead to high quality scoring chances.
There was a point in one of the power plays where he turned the puck over 4 times in a row. He was a mess all night I thought he was literally one of the worst Canadian forwards tonight after being one of the best the game before. But that's what I saw.

Yeah, he did have some bad moments, but also some very good ones. A high event game for him, good and bad, but I still liked it. Anyways, don’t want to get too distracted in a McTavish thread :) McTavish was very good.

He was my Center 1# in last years draft above beniers. The questions about his skating were never a big deal to me as he is such a hard worker and improves every spot his coaches tell him to. He’s unreal along the boards and has a knack for getting into goal scoring position. His natural hockey sense is just unreal too. Good thing my wings aren’t out West with the ducks anymore otherwise we would be battling every year coming up.
