USHL? Any interest in college route? I wouldn't have guessed USHL was on his radar. Who holds his USHL rights?

He played pro hockey last year so NCAA is not possible.

Also no USHL team even has his rights so I don't see how/why he would go there.

He said it's a very good club with brand new stadium and where he would get a dominant position and other good conditions.. nothing specific.. but it's almost 100% that it will be CHL (Sarnia) or USHL

A USHL team could pick up his rights by adding him to their protected list.
Last year, Nicolas Roy's agent said that he was going to head to Omaha if he wasn't traded to an acceptable QMJHL team even though he had not been selected by the Lancers in the draft; he would have simply been added to their list if it ever became a realistic possibility.

I suspect Zacha ends up in the OHL, though.

The USHL would make more sense. Zacha won't be ready for the NHL the season after the draft but will be too good for the CHL. If he signs with a USHL team, he can move to the AHL where he belongs after next years draft.

His agent would look like a dumbass if he ended up in Sarnia, that's for sure.

I hope he goes there. McDavid, Zacha, Konecny, Marner, Strome, etc. would be good for the OHL.

He can still go the AHL after his draft year if he played in the CHL too can't he?

It'd be interesting if more players did that. It worked out for Girgensons, though he always intended to go to college before Buffalo talked him into going to the AHL. That post-draft year in the AHL led to him being a full-time NHLer the following (this past) season.

I don't think so. He'd have been drafted out of the CHL, so AFAIK those CHL-AHL restrictions apply.

Zemgus is not a valid example. The way he operates, would make him succeed anywhere. dat work ethic

I agree, but if he were drafted out of the CHL or went to college, I don't think he'd have been in the NHL yet last year. In that sense it worked for him, in that he's in the big show cashing the big check already. I don't think it made a difference to the player he will become, but it got him to the NHL quickly.

No. If you are drafted from the CHL you must play out the remaining years that you are eligible to play in the CHL if you do not make your NHL team's roster.
My bad, I knew that rule but mixed it up because I was thinking he'd be drafted out of Europe and then come play in the CHL.

Good to see Czech Republic roaming back with some serious talent. Was worried for them awhile ago but seeing likes of Hertl and Palat making impact in the show and possible Zacha in few years, I'm confident that the Czechs continue to be up there with the rest of them in the international stage.

Walsh has acted a lot like a fool over the past. He had an agreement with a team and told Sarnia he wouldn't report there and they took his client anyway. He was pissed.
