So you give the Hockey IQ to Marner and Strome and I completely agree with that. But then you have to give Zacha the advantage in almost every department other than IQ. He's got a better shot (especially wrister), more powerful skater, more physical, and bigger presence.

Fair enough, but hockey IQ is arguably more important than all those other traits combined. Chad Kilger had great speed, physicality and a good shot. It didn't mean much.

As a Devils fan I'm certainly pleased with Zacha's progression recently. But we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.

Even if that were true, the difference in each are marginal (aside from the whole size thing), not enough to overcome the difference in hockey IQ which is ultimately the most important for a player to become elite.

I mean, I feel like there was a distinct difference between the tiers of forwards last draft. McDavid, Eichel, and then Marner and Strome. After that there were a bunch of forwards relatively close to each other. So while comparing Zacha to Marner kind of makes sense just because they're in the same draft and a few picks apart, it really doesn't make that much sense.

I really could not care less how Zacha stacks up to Marner or Strome, there was no way we were going get either one of them.

According to the Sting Board, looks like zacha will be likely getting a new linemate in White.

The sting also recently traded for Mistele from oshawa, a bigger goalscorer than zacha's previous linemates so its likely theyll get a shot together as well

Zacha is a good prospect. The stats may not leap off the page but that does not mean he is a talented prospect or player. I sort of put him in the Lawson Crouse category, team is not an offensive juggernaut, production may look less impressive than some of there peers.

Yeah for sure. I think he'll do really well at the juniors with some great players around him. Seems to be picking it up and it's impressive considering how far behind everyone else is in points on that team.

How is the Czech roster? Do they have a competitive squad?

Zacha is straight out blasting lasers at the time. He hit the goal totals from last year already. He is so dominant to watch!!

Czech roster takes a hit because there will be most likely no Vrana or Pastrnak.
That being said the roster is still pretty good and it can compete for bronze medal.

Very excited how Zacha performs on WJC.

Pretty much what Wooren said. They'll have 3 darn good lines and a really good coach finally. Bronze is quite a realistic goal.

People seem to think there's a big gap offensively between Zacha and guys like Strome and Marner, but you put Zacha on an offensive powerhouse like London or Erie and he probably has 40+ points by now.

Great pick by the Devils at 6.

.

Yep he was a fantastic selection.
So many people dislike him as a player because they looked at the PPG production last season or drastically overrate his supposed terrible hockeysense. He was always a prospect that was going to make major strides each season because his skillset and size is so rare and hes reported to be a extremely hard worker. When youre drafting a kid you aint drafting him for the player he is today but what you think he will turn into like 5-7 years down the road.

There's no reason with his talent that he cant turn into a Getzlaf type player.

Wanted the Leafs to draft this guy at 4 over Marner. Will end up being the better player.

Such a ballsy post, but good on ya. If you had said this in the Marner thread or leafs board you would have people reporting you to get banned. Marner is insanely skilled but Zacha will have an easier time translating his game to the NHL. I certainly think he has a higher ceiling than Strome or Marner if he puts it all together, but I am forbidden to say that on any other thread haha

Do you know what that even means?

I could not disagree with this more.
That being said, he's proven a lot of people wrong and looks good at #6.
He has a cannon of a shot.
