He should stay in Sweden at least two more years. Get a Top-3 role and get used to it, then head over. You dont want this kid checking right out if the draft.

Almost all Swedish forwards dont imeediately cross over. If Markus Naslund, Peter Forsberg, Henrik Zetterberg, Daniel Alfredssin can marinate in an elite pro league, so can Andersson.

Absolutely no reason to rush him or else you could end up with another Malhotra situation. Vigneault is the last guy I want developing a teenager.

No reason for two years unless he takes a big step back. He should be one more in Sweden and then over for the 2018-19 season.

Malhotra was never that good. His development may not have been ideal but he just plain wasn't that skilled...

This. and man looking back at that 1998 draft class outside of Vinny Lecavalier...

Agree with one year in the SEL and then NHL. Unless he absolutely exceeds expectations in dev camp and could assume a top6 role (extremely unlikely) let him tear up the elite league for a season and then come over.

He was still rushed and mishandled. His ceiling was a Selke quality center, future captain. If Andersson's ceiling is a 1C they can still damage him by rushing the process. Confidence can be killed regardless of upside/projection

Based on what? I don't really understand this line of thinking.

Based on watching him for two straight years. He wasnt dominant in the SHL. He was a role player and passenger. He shouldnt play in the NHL until he can prove he can produce at an elite level against grown men. He was a 7th overall pick. Absolutely no reason to rush him to the NHL and have him check, which is all he's capable of doing right now.

Bet the farm he doesnt carve up the SHL next year. I will be shocked if he does.

********, he never had the offense to be a Selke quality center.

Regardless, I'll trust what the Rangers do with Andersson as they've been pretty good about bringing some guys along

Definitely want him back in the SHL for one season. I'll withhold judgement on where things go from there based on how he performs.

Futur 3rd liner player selected 7th overall, great.

Martin Necas is gonna be so better than this guy.

I think he needs to be 2C at NHL to be fully effective. If he can do a year in Hartford then come back in 2018-2019 be 2C, drop Hayes to 3C. Vesey/Hayes/Miller would be great third line.

Solid selection and trade up to acquire by the New York organization.

Majority of scouts slept on Lias, they ranked him too low.

Incredible scouting by the Rangers.

I give them credit where it's due.

Nash instead of Miller. Miller is the better player, should be on a higher line.

I can't shake the feeling Lias is this drafts Horvat. Underestimated potentially impact C, but we'll see how he develops.

agreed

Solid defensive player with underrated offensive skills who was picked higher than people expect but will prove to be one of the best forwards in the draft.
