Can't help but think the Rangers hit a home run with this pick, I think they got a stud here.

I like him too. I wanted him with Tampa's pick it but who do I kid. Didn't surprise me one bit that someone picked him at 7.

Problem with Andersson is he seems like a safe bet to be a good player but a longshot to be a great player

I fail to see how that's a problem.

I guess there is 2 ways to look at it. Chances are the Rangers will be happier then most teams that drafted around them with the guy they got, but chances are that 1 or 2 teams picking from 8-13 will end up with better players so you question did the Rangers make the correct choice?

so the Elias Lindhom of the draft?

Andersson plays a grittier style then Lindholm. He plays strongon the boards, in front of the net, and is quite solid defensively. He definitely doesn't have the offensive skillset Lindholm had coming out of the draft.

His ceiling seems to be all over the place, ill be happy with a 50 point center. Were their other options? Sure. But Mittelstadt, Rasmussen, Tippett and Vilardi all have holes greater than Andersson. I'll take the sure thing. I personally think we had our eyes on Glass

Glass was supposedly #2 after Pettersson.

Nico or Nolan weren't in there? Genuinely curious

Nononono. That's not what PB was referring to, I think.

Before the draft began, McKenzie said that the Rangers were looking at (in no particular order): Pettersson, Glass, Andersson, and Suzuki.

Even though this list from Bob was supposedly unranked, we at HFNYR believe this is the exact order the Rangers were shooting for at #7. Since Glass and Pettersson were gone at #7...the Rangers went Andersson while Suzuki was still on the board.

Ohhh gotcha

There have also been a few people who claim to know that said we wanted Pettersson among realistic targets, and if you watch the Canucks Draft-Day video, Benning kept mentioning that he was worried we were going to trade up to take the player that they wanted.

if you watch the video, benning also pointed up at Pettersson in front of everyone and was like, "Him, I want that guy" ... Smart guy, this Benning. :sarcasm:

Funny how the first 4 pages of this thread were really good things and evaluations given to Lias, and after he was drafted by the Rangers it is 50/50 good things and bad things lol

If you actually read the first pages there's concerns.
Especially with his offense which like i said before he was drafted is limited. Think he can become an excellent defensive center but don't think he's talented enough offensively to become anything more than a great 3rd line center. He's closer to his ceiling than most prospects.

Like i said earlier, think Mikael Backlund.
