Windsor won the bid for the 2017 Memorial Cup.

That should only boost the draft stock of Brown (and Sergachev). You know they'll be loading up to build a powerhouse team, they should be playing tons of playoff games and they'll be on the big stage in late May.

How good is this kid? Didn't his stock go way down and now it's rising way back up?

Until around the TPG he was very inconsistent, wouldn't shoot enough and didn't engage well. But then a switch flipped as he always brought his A game, started shooting the puck the way he should've(always had a great shot) and was using his size the way he should've. He doesn't look for big hits but is great at protecting the puck and is tough to move in front of the net. I don't think he's close to a Dubois/Tkachuk but he should go 9-14 range(Yotes+Sabres need D) and a future #2 C with a slight chance of becoming a low end #1.

I see. Seems like an intriguing prospect. Any comparables for him? Maybe Eric Staal(when he was good)? This kid is huge. He's 6'6", 218 lbs according to Eliteprospects, what a mammoth of a kid.

He says he likes watching Joe Thornton and I'd say a mix of Thornton/Bjudstad.

5th OA to VAN in Craig Button's post lottery mock draft.

Craig is a contrarian. I love his outrageousness. Certainly a talking point. I was one that liked Brown more than others before he became the In thing of late. But 5th overall is very ambitious for my taste.

Stylistically I can see some Thornton. Thornton put up much bigger numbers in his 2 years in Junior

a mix of the 2 is likely pretty close

Hard to think of any similarities besides size. Thornton has eyes in the back of his head and can control the pace of play; whereas Bjugstad isn't a great playmaker but had a tremendous and willing release and is a very powerful skater. If he's a mix of the two he could be great.

I actually think that is a savvy call by Button. As draft day nears, and GMs start to pick apart these prospects in an attempt to create separation, a guy like Brown - who is 6'6" with all the tools - is going to look really good.

6'6 centres that are ALREADY one of the best players in the draft don't fall past ten. Some team high up will fall in love with this kid. His potential is scary good. Someone could walk away being like, how the heck did I get this guy not in the top 5?

Always was a smart player. Second half of the season showed he can become a dominant offensive player.

I like Craig. He's one of the few rankers that actually watches all the kids play. He isn't afraid to voice his opinions. Remember he had Jake Virtanen at 42 and everyone tore him apart. The guy is smarter then he gets credit. He just gets ripped apart because he's not afraid to go away from the consensus.

Some people were surprised when Johansen was taken 4th overall and turned into a #1 center. The same people will be surprised when Brown goes in the top 6 picks and ends up a big #1 center.

Such an underrated player.

Wow @ that puck protection, puck handling, passing, skating and size combination. Looks like a top 6-8 pick to me. You can see why he's rocketed up the charts.

U18 was the first time I saw him and I was shocked how far he was in draft lists. Was very impressed of him in there.

I don't see the Coyotes or Sabres taking him. ARZ already has the 3 young OHL C's that are on the radar. BUF was already playing Reinhart and Girgensons on the wing late in the season because there was no room at C. At some point, it's just overkill to add another C even if it's BPA.

Flames at 6th is possible. Especially after Burke's comments last week about playing in the West and wanting to be a big, puck possession team - Brown fits that to a tee. Bennett can easily shift to the wing.

Given how close the second tier of this draft is I wouldn't be surprised if certain teams would be looking to trade up to get this kid. Big, skilled centres are one of the hardest commodities to find. I think this draft has a lot of potential for trade up/down scenarios after the big 3 go.

When I watch that highlight video, I get a little bit concerned because it doesn't seem like he plays with any urgency or decisiveness. Decisions seem to come slowly, which he can get away with because he is so good buying time with his puck protection. Obviously, I'm not a pro scout and I haven't watched prospects for a long time, but it seems like this could be a problem area. Thoughts?

Flames fans? any of you guys out there? you guys willing to draft him at number 6? 100% of Canucks fans will not take him number 5.
