do sens fans project him to be in the top 6 next year? or does he need work in the ahl. also, how is his skating?

This kind of stuff has been following Brown for 3 years now. He will need to learn to bring it more consistently. Not sure if its drive or conditioning or something else. When he is on though, he is pretty good and shows great vision, Iq, play making... Its disappointing to hear that he did not bring his best game to the biggest game. He had been producing most of the playoffs.

I am not really suprised by his performance or the posts following. He lacks compete, its pretty obvious, he has lots of talent and the posters that suggest his style of play can leave a bad taste in your mouth arent wrong. Big play makers that arent fast or physical will give off that impression, lazy, lathergic etc. The poster that is flat our bashing him is probably a frusterated Kitchener fan that clearly showed his agenda when he brought up how many goals he had but not assists. I dont think anyone should take his specific opinion too seriously he seems emotionally invested in his criticizm.

As a sens fan he has been very dissapointing for me because you can see the raw talent but you can also see his lack of commitment in his game.

I think he will need some serious time in the AHL working on his speed, conditioning and strength. His body even if he was a hard worker off ice still needs to develop, his development curve is going to be longer than most forwards. I hope the fans and the organization are patient with him, if not he wont have much of a career. If he is developed properly he could end up being a player because he has the talent he just has lots of maturing to do, physically and mentally.

I dont, but who knows with the circus thats going on in this organization.

His skating is smooth and he has a nice stride but he needs to get quicker and stronger to be able to play in the NHL. He is a project, a talented one but a project none the less, I dont have much faith in the organization to develop him properly.

Depends on who you ask. Personally, I think he'll grab the 2nd line center job right out of training camp and run with it, others think he'll need at least some seasoning in the AHL first. The Brassard trade really opened the door for him, his only competition for that spot is Pageau, or maybe Colin White.

His skating is not great, but he can move alright. It's probably always going to be his biggest weakness, but his vision makes up for it. Plus, big guys always look a little awkward and lumbering when they skate, making you think they're slower than they really are.

Skating is solid, could be technically better (edge work and excelling out of turns, etc) But overall Brown is good for a guy of his size

I doubt Brown is ready for a top 6 spot next year, I think the A is the place for him to go for a year to hone his skills some more. Face offs could use some work, and defensively he would get absolutely roasted by any 1 or 3 center in the league. I think the only way he is playing in the NHL is if he is in a very sheltered role on the third or fourth line, where he gets PP time as well. But at that point I think he would make more sense playing a full year of Pro in the A. He is a great player and should amount to something, had the pleasure of watching him since the OHL trade deadline for the Rangers, going to miss him next year and hope he succeeds in the future!

I guess it's time to write off Auston Matthews as well, he barely showed up. Am I doing this right?
Not even close to similar, and no one’s actually writing Brown off. I know it might seem impossible, but your prospect has been severely underperforming and has failed to develop a pro-style game in the past two years despite already possessing the frame for it. It’s shocking to see how 6’6”, 220+ lb Logan Brown is consistently invisible playing against opponents who probably average out at 5’11”, 175 lb, but he plays like he’s the smallest player on the ice, so...

That his offence has somewhat stagnated with age seems to point to how he’s already near his potential.

Having just watched a lot of Brown against the OHL's best at playoff time, I would definitely see him needing some seasoning in the AHL. He looks slower than he is due to size, but actually gets up to decent speed fairly quickly and protects the puck well. Too often though, he relies on size and reach to make a play and forgets to keep his feet moving or keep his body on the right side of the puck.

His motor doesn't compare well to a lot of his peers, so he'll have to train himself to up the drive and compete level on a consistent basis. In other words, he'll need to learn how to make his skill set work for him at the pro level when the short cuts he took in junior cease to be an option.

For those who did’nt suscribe,

can you just tell us what ajustement he did?

Basically learning to use his size and positionning to compensate for his lack in skating and learning to shoot more.

The article comes with videos illustrating that adjustment.

I saw few games, for me Logan Brown dont look slow on ice... it was more about intensity level...

I watch the game yesterday, I know its the AHL but Brown look faster and hé’s so big...glad to see him healthy, hope he stay un Belleville all season, expect top 6 duty next year when Duchene leaves

This guy was getting a lot of hype before the draft and then I haven’t heard much about him since. Looks like he dealt with a lot of injuries since the draft, glad to see him doing well in the AHL.

Called up today along with Drake Batherson in the midst of the Sens exodus. I guess both are here to stay this season if Dzingel and Stone are traded, as the organisation has nothing to lose and it is a good opportunity to evaluate them/give them the chance to see what they have to work on to play full-time in the NHL next year.

I bet they will both be down by Monday that way they are eligible to play in the playoffs, should they make it. I think this is just until all the chips settle.... the organization is seemingly gunning hard for a playoff run for all their kids. I honestly am interested in seeing what happens with Tkachuk....

They can send them down "on paper" and still keep them with the big club and they will be elligible to go back for a playoff run. My Pens did that at the time with Pouliot (when we thought he would be a decent player).

Yes for sure, I still expect them to go down though unless they really make an immediate impact

I dont even think Brown is ready to take faceoffs at an NHL level, it is probably the aspect of the game he most struggles with in the AHL
