If draisatl adds enough quickness, top end speed and even footwork he will be able to pull that stuff of in the NHL. Problem is i don't personally think he will get it up enough to be the top center in that draft. If he can than maybe he is kopitar without a mean/Physical streak, if not he still could be a dangerous top 6 scoring player who potentially can add defensive play. A lot of people see one or the other.

I donno about that. Strome and Draisaitl look equally awkward out there at times, but Draisaitl's top speed seems better.

IMO from what I've seen from Strome in the past few games - he seems to pivot and accelerate quicker. Everything else Strome does is underwhelming.

LD wins the top-end speed race.

I've had the pleasure of seeing Leon live over the last two months in Kelowna's playoff run. The first two series did not convince me at all, but I can honestly say now that what he has been able to do when it mattered the most, when his team needed him, is astounding. He became a dominant player, he really elevated.

Oilers got a heck of a player. His speed needs work and his lack of effort will annoy you at times, but when it matters the dude will get it done.

A dominant player at this level. Does so many little things as good as pros, like batting pucks down, and getting his pass and shot off quick and in tight spaces.

Been a pleasure to watch him in the playoffs and I'm not surprised he's continued to impress tonight.

How often do you watch both play? I'm guessing the answer is "not a lot"

Ive seen Draisaitl play many many times since he came to North America in PA and this year in Kelowna. And I watched RNH play through his minor hockey years in BWC, , major midget in BC and then in Red Deer with the Rebels and now keep a close eye on him in Edmonton. I am extremely familiar with both. Its not like im bad mouthing Draisaitl cause I think he is an extremely good player. I just think RNH's vision is elite and is better than Draisaitl's.

Considering they both played on the same team, it's not that hard to assume many people have seen both play very often...

Draisaitl has excellent vision, but not quite as good as RNH.

I think a lot of people mistake him slowing the game down as him being slow or effortless. Hes like a Thorton, you'll never see them turn the jets on unless they're back checking because they never have to. watch drais without the puck and you'll see a long powerful stride but poor lateral movement, the knock on his game isn't speed but his technical skating.

Best player on the ice by far tonight. The guy has better vision than RNH

Uh, Nuge was running the 3rd best PP in the league as an 18 year old. He operated very similar to the way Doug Weight used to run the PP on the right side boards. Do you not remember some of the passes Nuge would thread cross ice to Eberle?

We finished 3rd and 8th in PP efficiency in Nuge's first two years, then everything got Eakins'd.

Drai is a helluva playmaker and makes some good positional reads, but I'd take Nuge at the same age. If you want to argue that LD could possess the better vision down the road based on the plays he can create off the cycle due to strength and size Nuge will never have then you might be right. I know some may say that doesn't constitute "vision," but I think it does based on cycle/pick/give and go plays LD will be able to pull off that Nuge may not be able to in 3 years or so.

Actually I do kinda think Draisiatl does have better awareness of where other players are on the ice. Even during his NHL stint you can see the play reads he was making and where he was going with them were often the correct play.

He doesn't have RNH's skating/agility right now though, that's the big differentiator, though I agree, in terms of pure "vision" he might actually be above. He foot speed needs to catch up to his vision though.

LOL... He's #3

McDavid
Nurse
Draisaitl
Eichel is better than him

Not to mention all the non-NHL pro players who're currently better (there are a LOT) and at least several more amateur prospects. He's good though. Way too many people overreact to his lack of obvious success during his NHL stint, which we see people do way too often.

I've been an advocate for the Leafs moving their 4th overall pick (Hanifin) for this guy, and now people are starting to see why.

His game is made for the pros.
