Jeremy Roy is a good comparison for Veleno. Excelled in Midget AAA at 14, but had to wait another year anyway.

Thanks for the feedback! So is he better/worse than Sean Day as an exceptional status player?
Veleno not granted exceptional status. Hockey Canada got this right.
Good, you can argue he should of played bantam this past year.

He was the best player on team Quebec in both games I caught, so I kind of doubt this.
You watched him twice ?
I watched him all year.
He was average for the league, his vision stood out. He's not some world beater. He'll be very good but he's overhyped.
Veleno has not been given special status his agent has said this am.
Is this a trend...overhyped LSL players?
Time will tell.

Who has been overhyped out of LSL? The most recent high-profile/hype player out of there is Drouin and that's going pretty well so far.
Leblanc wasn't that hyped was he ?Drouin and Duclair both made the NHL as teenagers. Matheson went in the first round and seems to be on track.
Only real bust I can think of is Leblanc, but that was long after LSL.

BIG TIME Hyped, total flop
Almost Alexandre Daigle level of flop
Not even close.....Daigle was taken #1 overall.
Just because someone is a 1st round pick from MTL drafted by the habs while the draft is in MTL doesn't make them the next Lafleur, which is what Daigle was supposed to be.
Ya I definitely got carried away
Angelo Esposito would be a fair comparison
Any chance he develops anywhere at the level of Drouin? What's his potential in the junior ranks for those who've seen him?
There's some stat padding that went on but for the most part I agree.Well considering Drouin did not play Midget AAA underage and Veleno just put up nearly as many points at 14 as Drouin did at 15, while having a similar CWG performance as Drouin a year younger I would say he has the potential to be a better player than Drouin.
If Veleno played in Midget AAA next year he would surpass Drouin's 15 year old season.
annnnnnnnnd apparently a final decision on Veleno will be announced tomorrow.
This is a circus
