Yikes, look at 58 on boston , did he not want to be there? He wasn't even trying
Before that goal Vaakanainen skated around like 2 full laps with the puck so he was pretty gassed out at that point.

Hughes will be so much better than Kakko. This is another Matthews vs Laine situation.... (not that they play similar) but the fact that everyone hyping the NHL ready plays with men prospect and the more skilled all around player will be better.
Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Hughes played with Gusev against team full of AHL players, and as awesome it was for him to score to goals and make couple of sweet passes, he was pretty lost otherwise but granted after his first goal he seemed to find another gear and actually looked like a player he was projected to be.

Also, other than Hughes and Matthews both being centers, they are nothing alike. Kakko and Matthews actually share a lot more similarities than Hughes and Matthews.

Smh... you completely confused where he was coming from with that comparison:facepalm:

But hey... did you see that AMAZING goal Kakko scored in the Prospects Tourny?

Matthews was drafted from the Swiss league where he was the best goal scorer of the regular season champions.

Matthews played with men his entire draft year.

He also said Hughes is the better all around player. I'm not saying Kakko is amazing in both ends either but it was stupid even to bring that up.

And yes I saw the goal. What about it? I don't remember people bringing up Hughes in Kakko's topic after that game.

Huh? There were several people alluding to Hughes in the Kakko thread after that goal

Not sure where you missed it but he made a note that he wasn't comparing their play styles... and my sarcasm was because I knew you were here in defense of your boy...

I must have missed them then. Sucks that it's Laine and Matthews all over again in a sense where people constantly brought up the other player when their guy scored.

He also implied that Matthews and Hughes were both the better all around players compared to Kakko and Laine. In Laine's case, sure, but I think with Hughes and Kakko you can't really say which one is the better all around player at this point like you were able to say with Matthews and Laine.

This is a pretty weak take, because:
1. Look at that Bruins roster.
2. Matthews was the more NHL-ready player and Matthews played vs men.

Yet another terrible capture. Recording's not that difficult.

It's all about Twitter, its videos are just shit, one should use gifs instead.

And about AHLers. It was the 1st preseason game, players are rusty, which kinda evens their skills, and AHLers usually try way harder in preseason games, because they need to win roster spots, and Hughes and Gusev already have their spots, being 1 OA and 4.5M player.

Someone needs to tell Hughes HFboards is not impressed. :sarcasm:

His skill is out of this world, the kid can play. Still learning the pro game, had a couple of soft passes that got intercepted in the Dzone, etc. He and Gusev are kind similar, Hughes more explosive/fast in his skating, but the hands and creativity is kind level. Looking forward to them to develop killer chemistry through the season.

It was probably some intern running the stream last night, doubt they had a full staff on it.

The broadcast was also just the jumbotron display, for what it's worth.

Kid scores two goals including GWer in OT and could have easily had a pair of an assists and people still trying to talk down this kid, oh man this is going to be a fun season. The kid is the real deal and the bitter tears from the anti-Hughes crowd is going to taste good.

its hilarious how much the Finnish fans want to tear Jack down. Literally EVERYONE was just speaking about Jack and how good he looked and then the insecure brigade had to check in

You guys can go party it up in your Kakko thread if you want. This is for Hughes discussion.

The Matthews thread had insecure Laine fanboys. The Dahlin thread had insecure Heiskanen fanboys. It is only fair that the buck has now been passed on to the Hughes thread and, by extension, insecure Kakko fanboys.

Jack's play style looks so unique and fresh. Throwing passes left and right, skating circles around players. He'll be entertaining to watch at the very least. The game needs more of his kind.
They don't exactly grow on trees. His skating and passing ability is basically one of a kind IMO

He looks amazing with Gusev like there's chemistry there already. If the Devils want to contend they cannot separate them, with Subban there I think there's strong potential in this team making the playoffs.
