Still centering the top line between Schwartz and Tarasenko. Yeo has huge trust with him.

still mad that Habs selected Sherback over him. I guess Moncton and the Q are too close of Montreal and Trevor Timmins.:shakehead

Barbashev continues to play great between Tarasenko and Schwartz. Starting to play with more confidence dangling around defenders. Looking like he could really live up to his 2C ceiling he was projected as during the draft.

I think we traded down from 28th in this draft and picked up two Dmen in the second round, but I really wanted us to take him. Not shocked he's doing well.

I believe he fell due to scouts being concerned about his offensive game in the NHL.

Which is crazy to me - not because he was destined to have a great offensive game but he was such a safe pick. Surefire NHLer with upside - perfect guy to pick at the bottom of the first.

Yeah, and its not like his production was even that bad. He was 1.4ppg in his draft year, and close to ppg the year before that.

Oh lord, another Russian who decided to build a career through leaving Russia early struggles!

Why? He was playing well last season and looked like an exception from the rule. But he has that long time AHLer stain.

looks like a career ahler to me. looked like a complete non-factor in the games i've seen this season

He didn't look good, true. But career AHLer? At 21 years old? He's shown that he can play at the NHL level; his problems this'll season are more with effort level and playing the right way, more aggressive and in the middle of the ice, things that can be corrected. He has plenty of time to show his worth.

I don't think Barbeshev will be down in the AHL for long. The Blues are like a revolving door right now trying to find the right players to replace Fabbri and Berglund. I think last night might have been the first time the same 3rd line played in two games in a row.

Barbeshev has all the tools to be a good middle-six center. But development is hardly ever linear, so him struggling a little isn't completely unexpected.

Long story, short, I'm not worried about him.

You don't even know how absurd your lols look from here.

Guy is not supposed to be your team's plug. He is obvioulsy more talented than that.
Oh. Thanks for informing me about how talented my team's player/prospect is. The fact of the matter is that Barbashev didn't look good in camp or when he was called up. So he's been sent down to the AHL to regain some confidence and then he'll be called up again. So far he has 5 points in 10 games. Hardly setting the world on fire down in the AHL. But regardless, he's 21 and is right on the brink of the NHL. Requesting a trade or a loan back to the KHL is absolutely moronic.

You don't even know how absurd your posts look from here. St. Louis has multiple spots that are available right now and they're waiting for someone to take them. If Barbashev had showed up and played like he did at the end of last year then he would be playing in the NHL right now. Once he gets back to how he was playing, he will be back.

Like he needs to be back in your league. That is where your collective mistake(a Barbashev's and his generation's too) lies. You are laughing now.

It is notmoronic. It is bad for your team and good for the player.

When he was getting some playing time late last season people thought he would now be sticking in the NHL. I was leary of this. These GM's treat players like toys. They play with a toy a bit and if its not one of their favorite toys they lose interest in it and it goes back into the toy box. Then they try a different toy.

Theres a whole group of these guys who took this NA path and basically are borderline NHL players. Because they are so borderline they have a hard time sticking on the roster so are kind of stuck in a limbo.

Are we seriously doing this again? Barbashev has not performed at an NHL level. That's why he's in the AHL, not because they are jacking him around. Coaching was vocally disapointed with Barbashev this year, and we saw why in the few games he played.

I don't understand the problem. Can the Russian posters not be mad that he took a path that statistically doesn't work out much for Russian forwards and its looking like the same will apply to him?

If he's playing bad and the right way to deal with the bad play is a demotion, fine, I don't think thats the contention here.
