2g 6a in 5 games...1st star last night....looks like he's becoming a better player.

I bet playing on a pond against us he'd have 20g per game. Would that make him a better player?

QMJHL<MHL<VHL<KHL

I don't care if he is player of the week every week there. Yakupov peppered the nets with goals in the OHL which is considered a better league than the QMJHL to become a 1OA. So what?

Becoming a better player is when he faces a tough competition and succeeds. So far he failed with that in his admitedly still only beginning most important final stage of development.

The MHL not more Quebec league. Even players like Manukyan and Kovalev beat records there though weak players.

wat? it's not a better league, they have their own share of manukyans like conor garlands and others. and if it's such a weak league, how the hell the future nhs star rubtsov looked like crap there and eventually choose to bail out of it? something doesn't compute here

Rubtsov struggled in transitioning his ability to the KHL level. He can pad his stats against inferior kids, but it won't make his transition to professional game, where there're loads of talented and experienced players, any easier. He chose the long, bumpy road.

Vityaz hadn't plan of his development. And I don't know how somebody argue with this.
You have young talent who hasn't pro-level experience. Give him confidence, let him feel taste of the game. Put him on the wing with old enough guys.
So many NHL teams put players who was center in minors on the wing for 2-3 years.
What Vityaz have done? They put him on 4C, gave him 4-8 TOI, sometimes (one or even two) 10 TOI. And after that they've been wondering- Oh, German, you won't win game for us.

Probably Vityaz GM understands this and let him go without war. But some russian supporters and experts repeat "wrong way, wrong way, he must play against old men, bla bla"

So you think him playing 0-8 minutes a night against men is good for his development?

:shakehead

It's not about padding stats....he did that in the MHL.

Why didn't Vityaz just send him to the VHL though? Sounds like the place he belongs to at this point.

Haven't got to see him much yet but I'd say he looks great. That with his draft and the talk he got at that time makes me think he will be a very good player despite the situation in the KHL.

Just checked the box score and saw he was not in the lineup? Anyone know what is up with that?

He injured his knee last night in the 1st period after being hauled down on a breakaway and then going awkwardly into the boards. Came up limping, went to the locker room, was ruled out for the game. He was seen on crutches afterwards, but it may have just been precautionary. The team said today he didn't break anything and is currently day-to-day.

Right on...thanks for the update..hope it's only for a couple of games.

He had his first game back tonight after leaving a game early with an injury, then missing the next game. 2 goals & 1 assist tonight.

Rubtsov has 12 points in his initial 8 games in the Q.

1 G 2 A today and named 1st star.

Now at 16 points in 10 games since crossing the pond. Out producing some of the CHLers drafted ahead of him.

*Every CHLer drafted ahead of him. ;)

I believe Raddysh is the only 2016 draftee currently in CHL with more PPG.

Though ofc a small sample.
