Gotta love the haters.

As people said before, the MHL is not a challenge enough and he is not ready for the KHL. the VHL or CHL are the leagues that match where he should be fir his development to play lots of minutes.

Living in Halifax, hope I get the chance to see him on our local channel that picks up QMJHL games.

lol, Josefson is 4th liner, nobody cares about him at this point.

A 25 year old 4th liner with 2 points in 16 games this season.

The only time anyone should be talking about Josefson in the Prospects forum is in a thread about first round busts.

WJC stat line: 0+0 and 0 SOG.

Rubtsov and Koorsgard (DEN) were the only 0 SOG forwards in the whole tournament.

Good luck with this prospect. o7

I hope this is just a cup of coffee and that he is back in Russia in the fall.

I hope it's true about transaction to QMJHL. Thanks god, allah, budda for this. Don't let KHL destroy another talent.

It is important how the existing KHL contract will be handled - is it a contract termination or just a loan. So far the contract is active at KHL website.

Both the news story and a Sags' press release said he's coming over for the rest of the season, so it sounds like a loan. The news story also said that he hasn't gotten an international release yet.

German Rubtsov is in Philadelphia for a medical check-up as a result of his injury sustained at CMHJ expected to arrive at Chic at the beginning of the week.

Yeh, a loan makes sense for everyone.

He is fast enough, skilled enough and has the two-way game to play KHL... but it is quite apparent from watching him there he is just not physically ready.

He had trouble winning board battles and one one ones and got destroyed on the draw. For a player who obviously prides himself on his defensive game it made him struggle at times in own zone not due to defensive skill or IQ, but simply due to physical immaturity.

Give him the confidence of playing vs his peers in the Q for a few months, then an offseason working on getting stronger and better on the draw and he can slot into Vityaz's 3rd line next year.

That was where they pencilled him in to start this season in training camp (he played ~70% of the preseason games at 3C with pretty much same linemates) before he went away to NT duty at start of KHL season... and when he came back their top 9 was doing well and no spot for him there.

I hope this is just a cup of coffee and that he is back in Russia in the fall.

That's probably the most likely scenario.

Give him plenty of playing time right now in the CHL so he's hopefully ready to be a KHL regular next season and then stay there until ready for the NHL.

Josefson was drafted 20th in 09, silly :)

Sorry if we trust our 1st round drafting compared to NJ the last decade or so:

NJ: McLeod, Zacha, Quennville, Matteau, Larsson, Josefson, Tedenby, Corrente, Bergfors
Philly: Rubstov, Provorov, Konecny, Sanheim, Morin, Laughton, Couturier, Sbisa, JVR, Giroux, Downie

As for Rubstov, most Flyers fans are ok with him going back to the KHL next year if he is ready. Or AHL. Wherever he can get minutes against tough competition.

I don't think anyone compared NJ's recent 1st round draft record to Philadelphia's (and I certainly didn't), so why are you quoting me?

I wonder how the lineup will break down with Roy and Rubtsov.

They maybe put him at RW... though a Roy, Rubtsov and Zhukenov 1-2-3 is terrifying at that level. But Marcoux is a C too, as is Trembley-Lapalme.

Maybe something like:

Ratelle -- Roy -- Rubtsov
Klima -- Zhukenov -- Klima
Desgagnes -- Tremblay-Lapalme -- Hamelin
Bzowey -- Marcoux -- Lavigne
Houle

He wasn't taking a shot at you, bro. He was just shooting down the idea that anyone should doubt our first-round picks before they have time to develop. He was righting the ship of public opinion, so to speak. Sometimes it's a shot in the dark, and sometimes he shoots from the hip, but he tends to shoot straight.

It was not directly towards you...more as an add in to the ongoing conversation. Maybe I should have quoted them all....like below.

3rd / 4th line center in Josefson's mold. A solid NHL'er though.

Good thing we got him 22nd instead of 12th

You corrected, JDI....I was saying that our drafting suggests that's it's way to early to call him a 4th liner like Josefson given how strong out drafting has been.

I know you have a thing for the Flyers, but this was not directed at you. You just got caught in the crossfire.

Anyways, looking forward to seeing how he does. Love the #17 he will wear.

Hopefully his switch to north america does him wonders! It has really worked out for Guryanov who wasnt getting a ton of minutes in the KHL, then came over and worked his way up and now looks super promising
