Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. And how many passive #1C's are in the nhl? Can't think of any, marner or maybe even barzal is who I like at 4 if hanifin is gone.

Strome shines when he gets the puck on his stick in the offensive zone. He just lacks that drive/speed to be a puck pursuit guy. He's going to make a living off his teammates feeding plays through him.

RNH played/plays passive at times. But he looks much, much better when he plays aggressive. Its pretty hard to be a passive #1c
I think the Allison comparison is pretty good, the question is whether or not that's a good thing for a top 5 picks. Allison was one of those guys who put up a lot of points, but whose impact on the game was never as positive as the scoresheet alone would suggest. He was barely an NHL quality player in 05/06, despite being near 1 PPG and just 30 years old.

And specifically how many passive #1 Cs regularly go deep into the playoffs in the NHL? In the high tempo playoffs where the opposition is playing an even more aggressive/defensive game, a slow skating passive style may struggle a little bit.
The more I see him the less impressed I am. Maybe he is injured but he didn't look much different in the regular season games I saw outside of the 6 point final night. He is by far the worst skater out of all the top prospects this year, and worse, doesn't even seem to compete that hard. He has good size but doesn't use it too effectively. When he gets some space in the offensive zone on the pp he is great, and I love his shot, but he generates almost nothing at even strength. Marner all the way Toronto.

McDavid and Eichel go 1 and 2. Arizona can go either Marner or Hannif or Strome. If they go Marner to play with domi, I don't see leafs passing on Hannif at 4 that's a steal. If Arizona goes Hannif instead, dale hunter might pick his London product Marner before Strome. There's a very good chance Strome is there at 5
This is what I`m hoping for. Either Marner or Hanifin depending on who Arizona takes.
Arizona taking Marner to 'play with Domi' makes no sense because they do not play off each other well. If they take him its because they see him as the BPA.

They are only vaguely similar. Allison was always slower and his 118pt draft year was in a much weaker defensive league (Brunette scored 162pts and was no McDavid). I think his injuries were what really killed him. He was already slow and with the concussion layoff (2 1/2 years) he lost a step and couldn't train hard enough to get it back. Even then "the statue" had 60 points in 66 games and probably would have improved on that if he had come back the next season. Too slow to backcheck and that isn't Strome. Strome to me is an Eric Staal or a less physical Thornton rather than a comp for Allison.

I've watched the last few games too... just not very impressive at all. Maybe he is injured, don't know. The way he is playing, I would take Hannifin or Marner first.
For those who have watched him a lot... is he hurt?

It would be nearly impossible to get a 1C with Nashville's pick. Leafs are so bad and have so many holes they need to take BPA.

I like Strome but I have to admit at least a small part of it is liking that he's a 6'3 C, but his skating scares the **** out of me. I think if Marner magically grew a few inches he'd be the concensus 2nd overall, he has a ridiculous amount of talent and has a good two-way game, Marner is who we need to pick.

Strome is tall but pretty gangly right now, as he fills out and improves his skating he will look much better.
For as "cold" and "invisible" as Strome has been in the playoffs, still has 17 points in 13 games.
