C Dylan Strome - Erie Otters, OHL (2015 Draft)

He's been awful tonight.. looks nothing like a top prospect. Maybe being on McDavid's team affects him.

Kinda good for the yotes. I have hanifin close to eichel and above strome. But with strome being pretty bad this series it could force them to take hanifin

Have yet to see a good play this game

I really really hope the Leafs have scouts watching these games. All i have seen from Strome is a lot of floating, not even trying to finish a check, not getting engaged in a puck battle or anything to warrant a top 5 pick. I am a Marner fan trying to like Strome but i can't bring myself to do it. I am hoping Hanifin falls into the Leafs lap but if he goes 3 i'll be extremely happy if we took Marner. I think he has more skill to begin with and he at least shows a win at all costs style of play!

I agree about Strome. As someone else said before, he doesn't appear to have "it"; his lack of overall compete on the plays is worrisome for me.

I might take Hanifin over Marner though.

As a leafs fan i hope Arizona's scouts put too much stock into one bad game like you guys are doing so Strome is still there at 4.

He was the first star last game. I guess everyone took that day off from posting about him.

This isn't about one bad game, this is how he looks (pretty much) all the time. The only difference is that he usually manages to put up a couple points.

I've watched pretty close to 30 Otters games this year (the McDavid dream 'n all), and I've went through the vast majority thinking Strome had a poor game. He'd still put up a couple (or a few) points, but I hardly ever thought "wow, Strome had a good game".

Yes they did, the difference between the top two and the rest is astronomical.

That edmonton won the lottery (again) is going to hurt for the next decade. Arizona literally can't win for losing.

It really is not fair.

This is the sign I'm going to bring to the prospect camp this year:

You weren't our number one
Or our number two
But when it's all said and done
Mitch/Noah/Dylan we love you

I actually thought Strome played pretty well tonight. He was solid in the defensive zone, won a lot of key faceoffs.

Made a great pass to Maksimovich in the third, Halverson big stop. Sprung Baptiste on a breakaway, Halverson big stop. And had a 2 on 1 late, Halverson came up big again.

Would certainly like to see more production out of him but Erie also did not get a single powerplay on the night, he thrives on the PP with more space to work with.

He's just not really a puck-carrying guy, eh? I really do think he and Nylander could be good together, if they pan out.

Still, these playoffs have just been the Connor McDavid show. Fella needs to step it up a bit!

Pretty sure Leafs are taking one of Marner and Hanifin. Hunter and Dubas all value speed and skill over size. Marner gives 100% every night in every zone (something Leaf fans haven't been able to say about our stars in a long time). I was ok with drafting Strome at 4 if Marner was gone (would have preferred Hanifin though), but now i'll be disappointed.

I agree. I don't believe for a second that Hunter and Dubas, in light of the kind of teams they put together in junior, have interest in a guy with skating issues. Marner fits the mold of both guys. I just hope Arizona doesn't take him first.

Like I've said numerous times before, Marner is head and shoulders above Strome. Marner is elite in many aspects and is a game-changer. He carries his team. Strome does not. He's had good numbers because the opposition plays their best players against the McDavid line.

If you put Strome on London and put Marner on Erie, Mitch would be talked about as potentially denting the top 2 this year.

This coming from somebody who likes Strome. But it is very evident Marner is on another level.

The draft order sure is gonna provide some talking points over the next few years. There's guaranteed to be a 'superstar' steal somewhere in the top 10 and Marner might be it

One year of viewings <<<< a playoff series

Apparently.

Agreed. Strome has massive potential.. effort level doesn't seem to be there in these playoff games, but that's not that big of a deal in the long run, especially when you consider that he's ranked inside the top 4-5 in virtually every list you come across.
