Yup. I used to like Strome but as I watched more Otters games I realized how slow he is. He disappears and he doesn't seem dynamic at all.

The 3-7 range is going to be interesting this year. I hope the Leafs are smart and take Marner over Strome.

Except he is probably injured. He is ranked where he is for a reason.

I think Arizona is being honest when they claim they will take Hanifin so the BPA at #4 in my opinion for the Leafs is Marner. The guy is simply unreal without an all star cast.

Since when did Arizona come out and say they are taking Hanifin? This is apparently after Maloney said they were taking Strome according to some people. But who even knows because no one posts a source to claims like these anymore. :help:

Gotta say I'll be very disappointed if we take Strome at #4. I've been saying that since before the Playoffs though. If it comes out he's injured I'd probably still take him top 5 or 6 but if not I'd be disappointed if we took him over Barzal let alone Marner and Hanifin

Seems like marner at #3 is the least likely thing to happen

I think that a team picking Strome at 4 is missing out on some pretty good players from 5 to 9 . Just like I thought the Canucks picking Jake Virtanen at #6 was missing out on Nylander, Ehlers and Ritchie.

There isn't anything remotely similar between Virtanen's situation last year and Strome's this year.

Edmonton - McDavid
Buffalo - Eichel
Arizona - Hanifin
Toronto - Marner
Carolina - Crouse
New Jersey - Strome

I have him going 6th overall. Don't think Toronto will take him over Marner. If Arizona takes Marner, then Toronto might take Hanifin or Crouse.

I have a feeling that the Leafs are not as interested in Dylan Strome as some believe. I think it'll be either Mitch Marner, or Lawson Crouse (if Arizona decides to take Marner at #3) they end up drafting.

Pretty confident in Hunter making the right choice between Marner and Strome. He's picked Marner in the OHL draft before, for the Knights, and he most likely scouted Dylan for some time as well (most likely even dating back to his Toronto Marlboro days).

I just wish we had another top 5 pick in this draft ;)

I agree with everything, except what you wrote about Crouse to CAR or TOR.

I wouldn't be too shocked to see Strome drop down to 6, but it'd be Barzal knocking him down IMO. Still a big maybe. But 5-6 seems reasonable.

Also if ARI takes Marner, I think the Leafs run up to the podium in record speed to take Hanifin.

I said this in another thread, but the more I see of Strome, he reminds me of Jason Allison.

Maybe a poor man's version.

Either way the guy is a project and needs to fix his skating, hopefully that will be enough to get him to the show.

Strome would probably do well on a defensive minded team, but I'm not sure he would be great for a team that plays up tempo hockey.

If Arizona took Marner, then the Leafs happily take Hanifin imo.

A poor man's Jason Allison in the modern day game would barely even be an NHL'er.

Strome's skating certainly needs work, but he definitely looks injured right now to me. He looks almost immobile, would not be surprised if he's nursing a leg injury.

Yeah he's nowhere near 100%, and that's why people shouldn't judge him based on these performances right now.

And the OHL allows minors to play with major injuries that could stunt their growth or wreck their careers?

There is a tendency for us to equate grown men playing professional sports while injured (and even then they need medical clearance which is often ignored) to children playing amateur hockey.

If Strome was injured to the point where is was affecting his game , then his parents coach and league officials would put a stop to it in a real hurry.

Think of it this way; If Strome only cared about his career , looking good and trying to help his team, why would he play like he is useless. That hurts his team, his draft position and of course calls into question the coaching staffs decision to let a child play injured.

You're really out of tune with reality.

Not all injuries have chronic implications.

Apparently, from someone who has had inside information about the Coyotes in the past, Strome should start looking for a place in Arizona.

How is it he can be so injured where his play has dramatically suffered but yet its nothing for his coach or parents to worry about if he still plays while injured?

And if his play has suffered so badly due to injury , how does continuing to play help his team mates or his draft position?

Either you come up with excuses for all that or accept the more obvious choice that he just isnt playing well.
