Point scored 40 points in the NHL at age 20.

And Kucherov had 18 in 52 at the same age, so should I use that as a better comparable?

It's not meant to be taken all the way literal. Dube is putting up pretty great numbers and Flame fans should be excited about him. When Gaudreau is publicly vouching for you to be on the roster it says a lot.

It was a fair response. Dube's trajectory was similar to Point's up until this season.

He wasn't able to transition to the NHL in his 20 year old season. I was making the comparison in October but not as much now. He has some catching up to do.

He can be a similar player but will be hard to match that cieling

What’s most impressive about Dube is he’s also a +12 on a team that really isn’t very good.

He and Valimaki are both really shining in Stockton and it looks like the Flames were right when they thought both were already NHL-quality players at the start of the year.

If Stone was going to Calgary, I bet Dube/Andersson were the sticking points. I wanted one of those guys so badly. Very happy with Brannstrom and obvs sad to see Stone go, but besides the point, I really really like Dube. Point is a decent comparison in my eyes. Point also had the opportunity to play in the NHL due to all of those Tampa injuries, so you can't really fault Dube for being on a contender who has stayed healthy at centre all year.

Gonna be a stud.

Can anyone tell me why he has only 31 games in the AHL this year? Did he lose a bunch of time to injury? Nice PPG numbers for a 20 year old in the AHL for sure, I think the Brayden Point comparisons are a bit premature as Point is an All-Star but I understand the reason for optimism.

He was in the NHL for a bit. 23 games, 5 points.

Kind of hope he gets a call up after the Heat's season ends. Could really use his speed in the lineup.

Still think he's going to be a better center than a winger. Just plays the position really effectively.

I agree 100%, he just plays the center position like its second nature to him. I'm a little worried about how effective he would be on face-offs but thats a concern for another day, I suppose.....

Ryan is a tough guy to have to leap frog. Mangiapane seems to be getting better every game. Czarnik has been solid.

Then Lazar and Quine both have more experience.

Tough for him to crack the team this year but I think he'll make the team next training camp and never look back.

Agree I like him alot.

BTW does anyone have any info on another Flames prospect in Adam Ollas-Mattsson?

Ollas-Mattsson has been a beast in Stockton this year. And although he was drafted by the Flames he’s not under contract with them.

Unfortunately there isn’t really room for him in Calgary. They just have too many good, young defencemen. But based on the season he’s had this year I’d expect some team to sign him. He has very little offensive upside but I could see him as a solid, stay at home guy in the NHL.

Important to note that his NHL time was mostly spent on the 4th line, and he was a strong corsi player with limited play time. Glad to see him have success in the AHL- i am hoping that he gets a crack in the top 6 next season when Frolik is moved out. tkachuk-backlund-dube would be pretty interesting.

He's fitting right in and making a line with Lucic look good.

Plus his mustache is amazing for his age

Agreed. His freaking mustache and eyebrows make me think Super Mario.
