He had an absolutely fantastic U18 tournament with Switzerland but that sample size is small enough to be very deceiving.

Anyone have any extended footage of this kid? He decided to stay in a great Swiss league known for developing higher level players as far as next season goes. That's good because we have a lot of players in the pipeline who are scheduled to come up from the AHL to full time NHL positions next season. Thanks.

Only a glimpse...from the U18 where he played 1st line centre - wears #13.

Was very noticeable against the Swedes today. Started calling him "Denis Hockey" by the end of the game.

I read that there was a chance he reports to Rouyn Noranda (QMJHL) after the WJC. Anyone have any insight?

More likely for next season, to get him used to the smaller rink before bringing him to the AHL.

Impressive body of work, a real dark horse.

So nice to see the guy playing in NHL.

It seems like yesterday when I watched the 2015 U18 tournament where he was playing for the Switzerland and looked like a 10 years old out there but damn was he skilled.

I was a fan in his draft year. He got into games in the NLA and produced fairly well in his D and D+1 seasons. Looked very good at WJCs.

This is why teams should be taking risks on smaller skilled players in late rounds. Why draft a guy who projects as a fridge on skates when you could take a gamble on someone with upside?

Jamie Benn was a late draft fridge on skates once

He never was.

Drafted out of BCHL, which is likely why he went later. Hesitancy on the level of play, but. Each year after in the WHL he improved and was the top forward on the Rockets. Good showing at the WJCs.

Benn was the most lazy/extremely skilled person id ever seen play when he was younger. The stuff he did at a young age on the ice in games/practices would blow your mind skill wise but would put no extra effort in what so ever

Its funny cause all stars in the league have the same story... first player on the ice, last player off.... Jamie Benn was always the last guy on, first guy off haha... the amount of natural skill he had though was insane. Also he was avidly seen on the streets of Kelowna while playing junior and he was pissed out of his mind, but then had a huge game the following night. And to make it even more crazy, he admitted in an interview a couple years ago that he didn't set foot in a workout facility of any type (gym or whatever) until he was 19 years old.

I remember a good friend once told me that if kids want to look at what it takes to become an NHL player, DO NOT look at how Jamie Benn did it haha

I love it!!! unreal player and I love his story haha... nice change of pace
