Looking solid as an 18-year old in the AHL so far this year.
Some highlights from the other night (1G, 1A)

(On Klimovich's goal, Arseneau's huge hit on Pateryn led to the turnover but check out Klimovich's response time on getting a shot off on the loose puck)

His combination of hands+shot and size (6'2, 205) is pretty impressive. Hopefully he can improve his defensive game.

My initial thoughts about him were that he looks extremely impressive 1 on 1 at times but is there enough hockey IQ for him to be a top 6 guy in the NHL?

I'm just not sure to tell you the truth.

Why didn't he play in Demark at WJC U20 1A? I mean, Belarus still won the tournament, but they would have been even stronger with him.

The travel situation is difficult for NA players due to covid so it just wasn't worth it or at least they decided so. Italy is missing two guys for the same reason, Japan played without Isogai, etc.

Good opportunity for Canucks fans to watch him grow at the nearby AHL club. Hopefully he has the skill to grow into a Grabner do-it-yourself kinda player or can round out into a complimentary player

His skill package and style of play remind a lot Andrei Kostitsyn, other belarussian player wearing #46

Klimovich has enough talent to grow in top 6 with his lental shot ans power scating. He's not strong with passing but for a power forward it's not a primary skill.

Playing at 18 year old D+1 in AHL should boost his development and learn him to play also simple game in both zones

Really excited for the kid this year. He's certainly looked improved over the summer and with the rate of injuries on this team, wouldn't be shocked if he was getting some nice runs at some point during the season. At least if he can carry over his production last year from the A, I would imagine he'd be called up for spots at least.

There’s no chance Klimovich gets called up this year. None.

He does not look ready in any way, shape or form.
Remember, as the season closed, he wasn’t even dressing for either of Abbotsford’s 2 playoff games because he was such a liability in his own end of the ice.

He looked improved in training camp but he definitely wasn’t so improved that he was blowing anyone away and forcing coaches into a tough decision.

He‘s got a lot of physical skills. As far as commitment goes, he seems to have a great attitude.

But, he’s got to figure the defensive side of the game out because no coach is going to play him enough if he’s a liability. Maybe a coach could overlook some of that if he was an elite scorer, but he’s not.
For a guy who’s best skill is his shot, he still misses the net way too much with it as well.

This is a pivotal year for his development. A good, realistic goal for him would be for him to push for a top 6 role with Abby by mid-season, and force his way into a PP spot as well.

But, he’s still very much a ‘project’ type in my eyes. Expecting him to be a call up option this season is setting him up for failure, because he’s nowhere near ready for that yet.

He is 19 yo 2nd round pick. Usually, those guys aren't even signed to NHL contracts until they are 20 and they start getting some NHL consideration when they are 21-22.

Klimovich shouldn't be looked at any different just because he was the highest Vancouver draft pick in 2 years and their fans had no shinier toys to talk about. Which got exposed even more by Canucks signing him to a contract so early, once again in big part simply because they just have nobody else to play in the AHL.

Add in the need for Canadian media and fans to constantly talk about something and he was basically getting early 1st rounder treatment despite being a reach even at #41.

He absolutely is a project and it's completely unreasonable to expect him to be something more than that at 19. If he is the one getting NHL call-ups it just shows how completely drained/mismanaged Canucks prospect system is.

When will Klimovich Be sent down to Abby , he needs to be playing . I like how he is practicing with the big club and it will do wonders for his development but he absolutely needs to be playing when the Abby Canucks start playing games

He’s already been sent down for awhile now…

He scored a couple of goals in their intra-squad scrimmage 3 days ago.

The epitome of project.

Kid has all of the tools but developing him is going to be key for the Canucks, the issue being; they're development success since 2004 has been abysmal.
Fair comment and I say this as a Canuck fan but Klimovich has screamed project from day one and was probably a draft day reach that Benning took the bite on.

He is so raw, and only 19. Only Raty and Moser(2021 2nds) from the same draft year play in a better league. From the Belorussian 2nd division to being a producer in the 2nd best league in the world, in 18 months.

To me if he makes it, it might be like Valeri Nichushkin as it took a long time and several stops to "make it."

I think he has all the tools to do it. But I've been very attentive to the Canucks organization regarding development issues going back to 2005/2006

it seems that if he makes it; it will herald a turning point in how they develop players, or in spite of how they develop players.

Kid's got all the tools and I hope he turns it out

The AHL is certainly not the 2nd best league in the world or even top five.
