I love the confidence, but I mean he was 16th in scoring the Belarusian second division last year. Would be the biggest jump I've ever heard of as id imagine a CHL team would be competitive and maybe win the Belorussian 1st div.

Shoot 1st Shoot 2nd Shoot 3rd option kinda guy.

Definitely a trigger man.

Home Run Swing type of pick for the Canucks....

Could be a Strike out or a Grand Slam.

Dont mind the gamble at all for a draft year with so much unknown.

Im on the fence as to which path would be the best for him for development,

KHL- he scored the other day during exhibition game

AHL or QMJHL.

Selfishly it would be nice to seem him in the AHL as Abbotsford is just down the road from the big club now.

Stylistically reminds me Ovechkin a little. But may end becoming nothing more than a Michael Grabner. A player that loves to hold onto the puck/dangle himself dizzy and try to shoot the puck through the goalie chest

I would just put him on the 4th line and see how he fits. Won't be surprised that he will have a good camp and make the lineup

Gotta be one of the most interesting prospects to follow from this draft. Feels like he might have some elite traits but is just so raw, a little mysterious because you could make the argument he seems under-scouted. I like that the Canucks felt confident enough to use such a high selection on him. It'll be interesting to see how he progresses now that he has an NHL organization to provide resources for him.

Some recent highlights from his exhibition games with Dinamo Minsk this week.

Benning yesterday said that the org. has spoken with Dinamo who was expressed to him that Danila would be a top 6 player for the team if he was to go the KHL route.

Just give him at least a year of juniors in the Q, no need to rush him to the AHL

I don't want him in the AHL this year. Too much attention and pressure. QMJHL would be better imo.
From his agent's quotes seems like hes pretty ambitious so he might thrive with pressure/attention, just another perspective? But I agree I think if he isn't good enough for a top 6 role in Abby he should definitely be in QMJHL.

Might as well leave him in Belarus if intention/his level makes you send him to the Q.

What makes him playing in Belarus better than the Q? The Q has a proven track record and is more than suitable for an 18 year old who just burst onto the scene

Flexibility to play in different tiers depending on his development, easy access to national teams, much higher competition level.

Picking him before Chibrikov is a pretty special move...

The guy seems to have some pretty awesome tools, so you can see the rationale at least. However, not sure if he ever puts them all together and I would've picked Chibrikov before that guy 10/10 but what can you do?

That said, his name reminds me of Elem Klimov, the movie director responsible for the single heaviest, most vivid and realistic depiction of the horrors of war to ever be put on screen. And I do not really know how I feel about that similarity, not that it has anything to do at all with the kid.

Disclaimer: I left the movie's name unsaid for a reason. It is THAT excruciating to watch. and as a result got banned for years from a lot of countries even though it hurt no political sensitivities. Don't watch it, don't even search for it unless you've got max-level tolerance for emotionally-wrecking movies. Even then expect to feel horrible after watching it. You've been warned.

This development route isn’t nearly as proven though , playing in Russian leagues would be a better option in this case
