Interesting stat.

Last season Connor Brown set the Otters franchise scoring record with 128 points. Despite McDavid missing 20 games he could still possibly break it. If he ups his current PPG pace from 2.57 to 2.7 by the end of the year, he'd break the record.

Of course, Strome might beat him to it.

He's definitely capable, but 57 points in 20 games is going to be tough.

MacT and the Oilers were in the house scouting today. I'm not saying he threw the game on purpose...but I am saying that in his position I sure would.

that'd be quite the character flaw I'm sure other NHL team love to see...doubt NHL teams want a quitter on their team

or Nurse did an great job containing him

It's not like Oilers were the only ones watching. And guess what, they were also watching their future Dman shut down any offense Erie could build up.

Mcdavid knows he's going first, and he knows a bad team is most likely to win the lottery. Whether he plays good or bad in one game watched by X scout changes nothing.

I think he was comparing McDavid to Crosby in reference to domination taking a bit. Crosby didn't get to the Q early like McDavid, but in his first year he was over 2 pts a game. A moderately bigger production level than McDavid in his 16-17 year old season.

When you factor in league scoring levels, Crosby was significantly better in his 16-17 year season. The same can be said for this year too.

This shouldn't take anything away from McDavid as Crosby had arguably the best draft eligible CHL career ever.

Yep. McDavid had a chance to do something special, but that injury derailed him a bit, and be was bound to slow down a bit anyways.

Since coming back, he's got 22 points in 11 gp, bringing his ppg for the season down to 2.5ppg.

At this rate he might struggle to break 115 points. Still, 115 points in 50 games is very good. But more like Kane or Drouin good, not that close to Crosby good.

Not quite Kane good. Compares favorably to Seguin though.

Nurse was put against him and basically shut him down. No slight to mcdavid as Nurse is arguably the best D prospect not in the NHL right now

Why? Has McDavid really been any more impressive than Kane at the same age? Kane had 145 points in 62 games . . .

Yes, lets just look at stats. Let's not put into account the fact Connor got injured for 1 and a half months which clearly took him out of his "groove". Let's not take into account the fact Kane's linemates were also elite junior scorers (Kostitsyn and Gagner) Sorry, but Baptiste and Remi Elie are nowhere near what they were. Let's also not take into account the fact that Tyler Donati had 129 points that same year. So many variables. But I was a huge Kane fan in juniors (plus now) and am a MASSIVE McDavid fan. Based on my viewings, McDavid is a lot more impressive in junior. Similar hands. Similar shot. Similar vision. But the IQ and skating is where McDavid wins. Plus, it doesn't hurt McDavid is bigger than Kane. :)

I agree for the most part, though Kane might have had a slightly better shot. The one thing Kane had over McDavid is killer instinct around the net. I'm still waiting for 97 to breakout in that regard.

For the record, I take 97 as a prospect over 88. But I think its closer than most think. In the end I think he'll end up somewhere between Kane and Crosby.

Indeed. Somewhere in the Stammer, Malkin, Tavares echelon.

I don't think so. Kane wasn't even the consensus 1st pick in his draft.

Kane was probably more of a consensus #1 than McDavid is this year. Kane's competition was JVR and Turris. McDavid has to contend with Eichel, who is probably a #1 overall pick in 7/10 years in a decade. If McDavid were in Kane's draft year, McDavid would be the clear #1 because of size and skating.

And Kane doesn't fit in that category? Last I checked he was leading the NHL in scoring, and has 2 cups, a Conn Smyth and probably more playoff points than anyone else in the last 10 years. If anything he is in a higher echelon.

10/10 scouts have McDavid as the first overall pick. Add in multiple scouts have been saying that the draft order for the first three picks is locked in and you get the idea that McDavid is about as consensus as it gets.
